Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday reportedly threatened to "declare war" against Canada within the next week if the country fails to remove tons of garbage that was previously shipped to Manila.

Duterte, in remarks aired by state media and reported by The Canadian Press, said he will "give a warning to Canada maybe next week that they better pull that thing out or I will set sail."

"I will declare war against them. I will advise Canada that your garbage is on the way. Prepare a grand reception. Eat it if you want to," he said. "Your garbage is coming home."

The garbage reportedly consists of electronic and household waste.

Between 2013 and 2014, Canada shipped tons of waste in 103 containers to the Philippines and ,in the years since, has been pushing the Southeastern Asia country to dispose of it.

When Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Manila in 2015, he said that a "Canadian solution" was being developed and said the situation would not occur again, according to the news outlet.

Can you imagine how confused the rest of the world would be if the Philippines and Canada full on went to war  Neither country can really project any actual power that far from home. Can we lend-lease a few amphibious assault ships or something America :-k

For real though, Trudeau is a hilarious fuckup  He'll have to examine this through a gender lense before he agrees to do anything, maybe dress up as Duterte to channel his charkha to help decide the best course of action.

Wait wait wait. Can we back up? Canada sent 103 container loads of trash to Manila without their permission? Really?

"get this shit out of here!"
"but boss, what am I supposed to do with all this?"
"I don't give a fuck! Ship to to fucking Manila for all I give a fuck, just make sure it's gone or it's your ass!"
"consider it done, boss!"

It was some private deal between a shady Canadian company and a Philippines company to take (buy?) some recycling that went awry when it turned out shady company just shipped 100 containers of actual garbage, but why our government hasn't resolved it in almost 5 years is just beyond me.

Just dump it in the ocean. We're all going to die in 12 years anyway.

Don't lie to the Americans. He outright traded containers of recycled goods for containers of Filipinos looking for a new life here. 100 rail/shipping containers can hold a lot of immigrants if they're stacked neatly.

Philippines is just pissed we slipped an extra three containers for our side of the deal.
