A new Gillette commercial was released on social media Thursday, showing a father teaching his transgender son how to shave with a Gillette razor.

The advertisement features transgender Toronto artist, Samson Bonkeabantu Brown, as he learns how to shave from his father, following his transition from female to male, according to Fox News.

“Growing up I was always trying to figure out what man I wanted to become and I’m still trying to find out what kind of man I want to become,” Brown says as the ad begins.

The ad shows Brown in front of a sink attempting to shave for the first time as his father coaches him through it.

“Now, don’t be scared, don’t be scared. Shaving is about being confident,” Brown’s father advises.

“I’m at the point in my manhood where I’m actually happy. It’s not just myself transitioning, it’s everybody around me transitioning,” Brown explains as the ad comes to a close. (RELATED: Gillette Uses New Ad Buy To Lecture Men On Toxic Masculinity)

Gillette shared the ad on Facebook Thursday, with the title “First Shave, the story of Samson | #MyBestSelf.”

Brown posted a message on Facebook regarding the ad, explaining that it was important for him to include his father in the ad because of the support he has given him throughout his transition.

“I shot this ad for Gillette and wanted to include my father, who has been one of my greatest supporters throughout my transition, encouraging me to be confident and live authentically as my best self,” the post read.

Brown said in the post that he hopes this ad resonates with his “trans siblings”.

“I am confident that this ad will encourage many of my trans siblings and fill them with the knowledge that our existence in this world can be filled with the love and support we deserve.”

Gillette previously centered marketing campaigns around its slogan “The Best a Man Can Get” attempting to tackle concepts such as “toxic masculinity” and bullying with its famous “We Believe: The Best Men Can Be” advertisement, which caused a public uproar in January.

And now a take from the "woke" side.

Just as no one ever expected Wendy’s to be weirdly good at Twitter, few expected Gillette — a company that makes those macho gadgets known as razor blades — to be woke. Earlier this year, Gillette earned praise — and, predictably, far-right jeers — for a spot that shot down toxic masculinity. Now they’ve gone next level: Their latest shows a father tenderly teaching his transgender son how to shave.

“I always knew I was different, I didn’t know that there was a term for the type of person that I was,” says the young man, who Gay Star News identified as one Samson Brown. “I went into my transition just wanting to be happy.”

Brown’s father then shows him how to shave. “Now, don’t be scared,” he tells his son. “Shaving is about being confident.”

‘I’m at the point in my manhood where I’m actually happy,” Samson later says. “It’s not just myself transitioning, it’s everybody around me transitioning.”

The ad dropped on Thursday, the day before the Trump administration revealed they would be rolling back Obama-era health care protections for transgender people.

Samson commented on the video. “Thank you so much Gillette,” he wrote,” for allowing me to share such an important moment in a man’s life with my father.”

Others were moved, too.

So to be clear this was a girl who became a guy?

And she's taken sufficient hormones to grow whiskers?

I use an old Trac II razor and have been buying knock off blades for years. I get 15 blades for about 7 bucks. I think Gillette blades are double that.

So my ad would be - Gillette sucks and cost is only one of the reasons why

My dad stuck around and he never bothered to show me. "What, do I have to show you everything? You're supposed to be smart, figure it out for yourself. And don't use my razor." Then he goes back to watching TV.

My bad, I could have sworn he owned Gillette at one point, that's how he got the money to buy the Patriots. Guess not.

Razors are such a scam... I've been on electric beard trimmers for almost as long as I've shaved. Doesn't get as close but I need the 5 o'clock shadow to not look like a baby anyways
