A starving puppy was dumped with his favorite armchair to trick him into thinking his owners would come back for him.
The little brown dog sat patiently in the chair by the side of the road last week, and was too scared to leave it in case he missed his carers returning.
Eventually, a local Good Samaritan saw the malnourished dog sat on the brown chair along a road in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and rang the local animal control officer to summon help.
When that officer – Sharon Norton – arrived on the scene, she was moved to see the puppy refusing to leave his armchair, despite his hunger.
Norton later shared the puppy’s sad story on Facebook, writing: ‘To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back, slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food.

‘Shame on you for doing this to this puppy…but one day Karma will meet up with you.’
Sharon eventually coaxed the puppy to come with her. He has been fed, and is set to have a full medical examination.
The dog will then be put up for adoption – with Norton and other locals keen to ensure his new owners take better care of him.
