The Buckingham Woods neighborhood pool in Macomb Township has a serial pooping problem.
It appears that an unidentified individual has been defecating in the pool, leading to closures and a search to find the culprit.
The association's board president released a statement online on Friday.
"At the present time, we are reviewing attendance logs and recorded video," it said. "Rest assured that we are following published guidelines to restore the pool to a safe and sanitary condition."
The Buckingham Woods subdivision is located near 23 Mile Road east of Romeo Plank Road.
The Macomb County Health Department said they have been in contact with the pool operator, who assured that they are taking all the steps necessary to keep the facility safe for the public.
"The concern for the public are pathogens that could survive in the water (i.g. Escherichia coli (E.coli, Cryptosporidium)," said Environmental Health Division Director Andrew Cox. "The pool's last sample on 7/10/19 did not exceed any levels of concern."
The statement said the association has hired a pool attendant to remain on-site until the end of the summer, and that the board has been in contact with local authorities regarding the issue.
On Monday morning, the Macomb Sheriff's department said it had not received any complaints or alerts about the incident.
