A Tennessee detective has been removed from duty after she and her boyfriend were arrested over a fight with a hammer that 'destroyed the house.'
Nashville Metropolitan Police detective Megan Hoffman and her boyfriend, Jonathan Mahoney, both 34, were arrested following the incident on Tuesday.
Cheatham County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to the couple's home in Ashland City about 2:30am, according to court documents.
Mahoney claimed Hoffman had 'destroyed the house' and punched him in the face.
Hoffman in turn accused Mahoney of hitting her with a hammer and wanted to be taken to a hospital emergency room for treatment.
Deputies said Mahoney had bruising to the right side of his face and Hoffman had a 'busted lower lip' as well as 'red marks to the right side of her face.'
Mahoney said the house was equipped with surveillance cameras and a digital video recorder (DVR) in a bedroom.
When deputies investigated, they found debris all over the hallway leading to the room.
Inside they found a computer monitor 'busted and inoperable,' while cables connecting the DVR to the cameras had been ripped out, and the recorder itself was broken.
'There was also a large hole in the bedroom door,' the incident report said, and 'the bedroom was in complete disarray.'
Mahoney claimed Hoffman had done all the damage 'during her rage.'
The boyfriend added they had been going through a breakup and had both been drinking.
Deputies could not decide who was the main aggressor, and Hoffman and Mahoney were both later charged with domestic assault.
A spokeswomman for Nashville's Metro police told Fox News that Hoffman had been decomissioned, meaning that she cannot serve with the department.
The spokeswoman added that the detective had served with the department since 2011.
