Two Mayetta burglary suspects were captured Saturday afternoon.
30-year-old Eric Fernandez and 25-year-old Chelsea Ray, both from Topeka, were taken into custody after a lengthy search.
The Kansas highway patrol and the Jackson Co. Sheriffs Office posted these photos of Fernandez, still covered in mud from his attempts to hide in a creek.
The mud didn't fool the Highway Patrol K-9s and aircraft that were assisting in the search.
Jackson Co. Sheriff Tim Morse says the duo is suspected of taking property from a home south of Mayetta Friday night.
When neighbors approached them, they fled in a silver SUV, which got stuck on private property.
They ran - kicking off the manhunt that lasted late into the night.
Early Saturday afternoon someone reported seeing the duo - and deputies caught Chelsea Ray east of Highway 75 on 134th Rd.
Fernandez was later caught near a creek close by.
Both suspects are being held in the Jackson County Jail and are facing burglary, trespassing, and felony obstruction charges.
