A Milwaukee police officer is being praised for buying a woman he pulled over two car seats for her children, who were not in one.

Andrella "Lashae" Jackson, a single mother of five, says she got pulled over because the two little girls she was traveling with were not in car seats, according to Jackson's Facebook post.

Jackson expected a hefty fine after first being pulled over, according to CNN. The officer actually pulled her over for not having proper registration and during the stop he noticed her two young girls were not in car seats.

When Officer Kevin Zimmerman asked Jackson why she didn't have car seats, she responded that she couldn't afford them.

Instead, Officer Kevin Zimmerman issued Jackson a verbal warning before he drove to Walmart to buy Jackson two car seats with his own money.

Jackson told WTMJ:

With bills coming up and winter coming up, I have to get coats and boots and shoes for my kids. So it was hard for me.

A 12-year police veteran, Zimmerman told CNN he also brought stickers and children's books for Jackson's girls Niyah and Sky.

He says he wanted to "do the right thing, even if no one is looking."

Over his 12 years on the force, Zimmerman has responded to serious car crashes where children were thrown through the windshield because they weren't secured properly.

Zimmerman said:

I am a dad of three kids and can't imagine anything happening to them or not being able to have them secured in their car seats.

Zimmerman was praised publicly by his own Milwaukee Police Department, which said:

Andrella JACKSON was recently pulled over by MPD District 5 Officer Zimmerman, and received much more than a traffic citation. The officer observed that the children in the car were not properly restrained and took it upon himself to purchase two car seats for her. Thank you Officer Zimmerman for going the extra mile and going above and beyond your call of duty.
