How do you eat them? And for the sake of this question, I'm talking about sandwiches made from regular old bread that comes in a loaf, not a roll or bun or anything like that.

Do you just eat it without cutting it? Do you cut it in half? And if you cut it, do you cut it diagonally or straight in half right down the middle?

I used to cut the munchkins sandwiches into shapes with a pastry cutter until eventually they refused to eat them due to them being 16, 18 and 20 years old, I have no idea why they have such a problem with it.

No cut for me, but my grand daughter's peanut butter/marshmallow sandwiches have to be double diagonal cut to make 4 triangles.

Oh and there doesn't appear to be a choice for that one, I feel discriminated against :(

Until I find a gluten free bread that isn't disgusting, I won't be eating sandwiches any time soon. Even before I figured out I was gluten intolerant, I didn't eat sandwiches very often other than hamburgers and hot dogs. I just didn't care much for loaf bread.
A sandwich on a sub roll or sandwich bun would be good from time to time but not on a regular basis.

Cut in half - easier to hold

I normally don't cut sandwiches, but on the rare occasion that I do (which is usually a grilled cheese), I cut it diagonally.

I can't answer this cuz we Finns don't eat sandwiches like that... but when I was in the States, I did enjoy them being cut in half diagonally. Somehow that is a more appealing shape and easier to eat.

usually i dont cut my sammich. the only ocasions i do cut it is when it's so full of ingredients that it needs both hands on the half cut just to stop all the nomnommy ingredients from falling out, then its usually in half through the middle :yup:

I cut them into rectangles, more through habit than preference.

I avoid sandwiches - just don't like them. But when I do, I diagonally cut them.

Why? It's the way truck stops used to do them, and we travelled across the country when I was a kid, and you knew that if you saw a bunch of trucks outside a diner it was good eats! :)

I consider myself something of a sandwich fiend. I love them. If I could, every meal would be eaten between two slices of bread

And I say: It depends!!! A classic grilled cheese sandwich needs to be cut into four triangles. That's how mom did it, that is how it needs to be done. A packed sandwich for lunch is left uncut. A sandwich made with toasted bread is cut in half diagonally. A sandwich made on a long bun is cut in half down the center.

The list goes on. It's all gravy!

Every Sunday I get 20 pieces of bread and make 10 sandwiches ( 2 per day )

I cut them in half, because they taste better that way

I haven't had white bread, except at a restaurant, for ages

Now when I do have it, it's like candy. But whole grains or 12 grains is a lot better for you.

Real ryebread, the finnish kind, is healthy as fuck.
No wonder one of the finnish bakeries in the US got flooded with requests to make more of it daily.

US styles maybe which are not 100% rye. Like ours is. Plus, pumpernickel is not so good cuz it has all sorts of seasonings in it.

What is "7 grain whole wheat" ? Does not compute... keep it simple, keep it 100% and then it is ok.
