A Pinellas County mom was arrested on a child abuse charge Monday after she hit a child in the head with a taser during a fight at school, police said.
Susan Mary Strahsmeier, 42, of Gulfport, was arrested on charges of child abuse and possession of a weapon on school property -- both felonies.
The incident occurred about 5:20 p.m. Monday at Azalea Middle School, 7855 22nd Ave. N, in St. Petersburg. Strahsmeier’s daughters “were in a physical fight with multiple students” when she “involved herself in the physical fight by striking the victim numerous times in the back of the head from behind while holding a purple taser,” an arrest report states. “The victim sustained minor injuries to the back of the head.”
Police said the incident was witnessed by numerous students and that they obtained video of the incident.
Strahsmeier also was charged with violating her probation on a previous criminal mischief charge. She was being held at the Pinellas County jail Wednesday. Bail on the two felonies had been set at $10,000.
