A Houston-area man is wanted for allegedly forging his wife's signature and that of a notary while trying to dissolve his marriage earlier this year.

Paul Nixon, 51, is wanted on a third-degree felony aggravated forgery charge after police discovered the fraudulent paperwork, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office. Nixon's wife called deputies in May after she found out a Harris County judge had finalized her own divorce – without her ever knowing about it.

Nixon allegedly forged his wife's signature and even forged the notary's signature to make it appear as if his wife consented to the divorce.

Court records show Nixon filed for divorce in February 15 – the day after Valentine's Day. The judge signed an order in the proceeding in April.

Then on May 14, the same day Dixon's would-be ex-wife called police, deputies filed a motion to vacate the order, which essentially reinstated the couple's marriage once the judge signed it a few weeks later.

No new divorce proceedings appear to have been filed since, court records show.

Now, Dixon is facing up to 10 years in prison, if convicted. He is currently wanted for arrest.
