Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was the only House Democrat to oppose funding to help Americans who are struggling from the coronavirus pandemic, which originated in China.

The move by the far-left lawmaker comes after she cheered American job losses on Twitter earlier in the week when she learned that the oil industry was being ravaged by the pandemic.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted: “You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *cough*”

The $484 billion bill that the House voted on Thursday night included a “$310 billion infusion to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a forgivable loan program that ran out money last week amid skyrocketing demand from hurting small businesses,” Fox News reported.

“It is a joke when Republicans say that they have urgency around this bill,” Ocasio-Cortez falsely claimed. “The only folks that they have urgency around are folks like Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Shake Shack. Those are the people getting assistance in this bill. You are not trying to fix this bill for mom and pops.”

Senate Republicans were ready to move forward with the bill two weeks ago but Senate Democrats blocked it — a move that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised at the time.

Earlier this week, after she celebrated American job losses in the oil and gas industry, Ocasio-Cortez said that people should not go back to work when the economy reopens.

“When we talk about this idea of ‘reopening society’ you know, only in America, does the President, when the President tweets about liberation, does he mean go back to work,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “When we have this discussion about going back or reopening, I think a lot people should just say ‘no,’ we’re not going back to that. We’re not going back to working 70 hour weeks just so that we can put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”

Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a Democrat who is challenging Ocaiso-Cortez in the primary race for New York’s 14th Congressional District, slammed the former bartender for her antics.

“AOC votes against more aid to our overburdened hospitals in the Bronx and Queens and indeed the whole nation,” Caruso-Cabrera said. “AOC votes against more coronavirus testing for the Bronx and Queens and indeed the whole nation. AOC votes against aid to small businesses for the Bronx and Queens and indeed the whole nation.”

Caruso-Cabrera added, “This is outrageous and just plain wrong. Nothing could underscore more clearly why AOC’s anti-democratic party, pro-socialist agenda needs to be rejected once and for all.”

I'm not sure I agree with the dust up about Shake Shack or Ruth's Chris etc. An individual franchise owner is an independent restaurant owner with higher overhead.

They somehow think the franchise company is paying the employees? They're not.

The same is true of home health, senior services, etc etc... just because I use a franchise model, I'm still an independent small business.

oh, and AOC is a fucking lunatic.

Suspend her paychecks until the country is up and running again. I bet she will sing a different tune when she is huddled down with the masses.

Amen. Why are they getting paid? And shouldn't government be required to flex with employment? If 30% of the couyntry is unemployed, government should be forced to reduce by 30%. Maybe they'd do more to keep people working if that were the case.
