View Full Version : Cops launch hunt for man armed with chainsaw ‘after man’s arm partially severed in attack’

A manhunt has been launched for a male armed with a chainsaw in Blackburn, West Lothian, after a man was reportedly attacked.

Police, helicopters and medics were seen in the area shortly after midnight, according to eyewitnesses.

According to claims, dozens of officers swooped on the village and have been searching for the armed man.

A witness claimed dozens of police raced past her following the attack.

Taking to Twitter, she said: "Had just shut my eyes to into what I felt like was going to be a class sleep when about 50 police go past since someone has used a chainsaw and chopped another mans arm off."

She then added: "Now we have the helicopter out cause the guys on the run."

Another resident took to the Blackburn West Lothian Facebook page and claimed the man who was attacked "is now okay".

An update was then posted, which read: "The guy who was attacked with the chainsaw is okay. The arm wasn't completely severed. The main thing is he's alive.

"Only one person's been attacked. He's in hospital in good spirits but will be sore tomorrow."

Witnesses also claim the area has been cordoned off, with a "large police presence at white houses next to homeless unit."

Photos, taken near where the alleged attack happened, show numerous police vehicles on a residential road.

An owner of the community page wrote: "Police have it all taped off. One guy in hospital, and one on the run. No one else involved."

Another local witness posted on Facebook, she said: "Wednesday night is lit in Blackburn.

"Chainsaws, helicopters, Police wagons....

"Hope everyone is ok."

The latest update according to a local breaking news Facebook page revealed: "Blackburn update, one Male has been taken to hospital by ambulance as a result of being injured by another male wielding a chainsaw.

"Police are following a definite line of enquiry and expect an arrest imminently - until now, No arrests have been made!"
