The enraged girlfriend of a Maroone Volkswagen mechanic was arrested for setting his car on fire at the Delray Beach car dealership, damaging two new cars in the process, Delray Beach police said.
Tochara Stephens, 25, of Delray Beach, was arrested on Wednesday on a charge of second-degree arson for the incident at the dealership, 2401 N. Federal Highway, according to an arrest report.
About 3 a.m., firefighters put out flames engulfing the unoccupied 1998 purple Oldsmobile belonging to Lefrance Defranc, 24. The fire spread to a white 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2011 black Volkswagen GTI, causing nearly $8,000 in damage, the report said.
An officer found Stephens across from the dealership with two red gas containers and a baseball bat in her car, the report said.
Defranc told police Stephens was angry because she found out he was cheating on her with the mother of his son.
Stephens was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Thursday on a $10,000 bond.
