An Australian woman has vowed to stand by her boyfriend after he was charged with raping her eight-year-old daughter.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons but is in his 50s, was charged on Friday over the alleged rape, which police believe took place sometime between April 1 and April 14 at his Brisbane home where he lived with the girl and her mother.
He is reportedly also accused of molesting the child on two separate occasions, once in January and once again in April.
While in court for a bail application this week, it was heard that his partner, the alleged victim's mother, is standing by him.

After moving out of the family home, the man is currently living on a sailboat in the Gold Coast.
Police prosecutor John Paratz opposed the defendant being granted bail due to the seriousness of the charges, and to the fact that sailboats are "inherently mobile" making him a flight risk.
He also argued it was inappropriate to grant the man bail as he is "still in a relationship with the mother of the victim child".
Magistrate Louise Shephard has identified a "significant error" in the police affidavit opposing bail, Mail Online reports.
In the written affidavit, police claimed that the defendant made admissions which matched the little girl's statements during a pretext phone call.
However the magistrate said this was false, as there has "been no formal record of interview with the girl" and that the man did not pick up the phone for the attempted pretext call.
The defendant has been granted bail, but has been banned from having any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
The case has been adjourned from Beenleigh Magistrates Court and will return to Sandgate Magistrates Court on June 18.
