35-year-old Shelan Mohammed Khalid was charged with domestic assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when she hit her husband in the head with a frying pan lid because he didn’t put her name on the title of the vehicle he bought for her. She smacked him around again later when he tried going to sleep and she wanted him to get out of bed.
On July 20th, Nihad Abdullah reported to police that he and his wife, Shelan Mohammad Khalid, were involved in an argument around 9:00 pm that day. She was upset with him because he bought her a car but didn’t put her name on the title. According to the affidavit, Shelan then grabbed a frying pan lid and hit Nihad in the back of the head, which caused a cut on his ear and a large knot behind the ear. Officers noted there was a red indention in the middle of the knot that matched the rim of the frying pan lid.
Nearly two hours later, Nihad stated that he was lying in bed trying to sleep after he and his wife were involved in the altercation. Shelan was still upset from the argument and asked him to get out of bed. She began to hit him and slap him with her hands and struck the victim in the face leaving a scratch on his forehead. The report states that it is consistent with a fingernail.
Shelan Mohammed Khalid was arrested and charged with domestic assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $11,000.
