An influencer has explained that she received bad backlash after sharing a photo with her tampon string sticking out.
Sophie Elise, 25, a body confidence influencer and singer from Oslo, Norway, posted the nude snap to Instagram where she has 448,000 followers.
She hoped to dispel stigma around periods, but instead was told she was a “bad role model” who should hide her periods.
Sophie captioned the post: “My body, period.”
Included in the photo is a shot of Sophie’s bum which has been recently reconstructed after a botched surgery when she was a teen.

The cheeky post racked up 24,900 likes so far.
Unfortunately, not all of the reactions were positive – some slammed Sophie for sharing the reality of the bodily process.
Sophie said: “I got a lot of DMs from men saying ‘this is so gross, I will unfollow you now’ and I just think it's so insane that people in this world still find a woman’s period to be gross.
“It’s insane. I actually care so little about my period and talk openly about it, and it's just sad that people don’t want to.”

And, it’s not only men who have slated the singer.
She said: “I got so many nasty messages but the ones that shock me the most are those from women who say that I’m a bad role model and that I should just hide the fact that I’m on my period.
"I’m human. Those women really p*** me off, but again, I don’t know if they realise how insane they sound.
“I really want to remove some of that stigma around periods."
Sophie continued: “And also, when I follow girls who do similar things, like posting pictures of their arm hair or their period – because I have seen it before, I just see it rarely – it makes me feel so good and empowered!
“A woman can be sexy even on her period and we should embrace that.”
Thankfully, some of Sophie’s fans were proud of her openness.
One person said: “Absolutely raw! Proud to be a woman!"
