State transportation contractors are warning motorists that hackers are changing Colorado road construction signs.

Contractor Rick Bowman says the hackers are posting humorous messages warning motorists to beware of zombies and vampires.

He says the hackers have changed signs in Colorado Springs and Pueblo over the last few days.

Bowman said it may be funny, but someone could get hurt if the right warnings are not displayed. Authorities suspect a l33t haxor that goes by "Thelancinator"

I wonder how many people stopped their cars, got out and ran?

 laughing . . . thank you so much, that is a keeper!

And FWIW, it being the Bay Area, I figured that it was announcing some kind of "fun run"

Apparently it's really easy to do. They often don't change the default password on the signs (it's like 0000 or 1234) you open the panel to expose the keyboard, type in the passcode, type the message and enter.

I loved seeing the desktop and Windows operating system on the till at the food store the other day

The debit machine was forcing the till to reboot so we all got to see an XP interface complete with taskbar (or NT, 2000 or Windows server) while she got
the till program running again.Never had seen that before.
