A mall Santa dropped the hammer on a little boy who asked him for a Nerf gun for Christmas — telling the bawling kid he wouldn’t bring him the toy.

The politically correct Kris Kringle was caught on video asking the child what he wanted for the holiday, according to a Facebook post by the boy’s mother.

The boy apparently mentioned a gun, because the Santa could be heard replying, “No, no guns.’’

When the kid’s mom, who was standing nearby, piped in just to be clear, “Nerf gun,’’ the not-so-jolly Ol’ St. Nick was still having none of it.

“Nope, not even a Nerf gun,’’ said the unmoved Father Christmas, who was sitting at a table surrounded by fake presents, with the boy across from him nervously holding his face mask, in what looked like a mall.

“If your dad wants to get it for you that’s fine, but I can’t bring it to you,” the Santa Claus said. “What else would you like? Lots of other toys. Legos. There’s bicycles. There’s cars and trucks. What do you think?”

The child turned to his mom and burst into tears, continuing to sob even when she bent down to hug and comfort him — and told him, “You’ll still get it.’’

It’s not clear when or where the incident took place, but the Twittersphere reaction was swift — and heavily against Santa.

“Leftists are monsters!” one user wrote.

Another added, “Havnt kids been through enough this year? I give the mom credit because I would have caused a scene”

If that had been a conservative telling some little 8 year trans kid why they can't have a unicorn, they would have been crucified by the media by now.

If the left didn't have double standards, they wouldn't have any standards at all.

So silly. Nerf guns are awesome. Have you seen the ones they have these days?! The big kid in me occasionally browses the Nurf website, they look awesome.

Super Soakers on the other hand aren't nearly as cool as they were when I was young. :-k

my kids have two battery operated ones that hold like 60 darts that automatically fire when you hold down the trigger... it takes about 20 seconds to unload and 10 minutes to pick up and reload

I'm having full nostalgia mode. I'm thinking back to the old water pistols that you couldn't fill properly because the plug for the water receptacle had a tab with " T" on end that went inside the body of the gun - a bit like the tabs that hold on price tags to clothes. Plus the hole was too effing small. The water would bounce off it and splash everywhere when you tried to fill it

I feel like I grew up in the golden era of water guns in the 90's

My first was the Super Soaker 50 - absolutely classic

Next one was the 2000

A kid down the street had the 3000... the envy of the whole neighborhood

A mall Santa refused Michael DeCarlo’s request for a Nerf gun for Christmas, so now the National Rifle Association is stepping in to help the 4-year-old expand his toy arsenal.

The gun rights group released a video of Santa delivering a sack of the popular toys to the child’s home in Illinois as part of their “mission to make Michael’s Christmas the best ever.”

“Mean Santa won’t be happy I have this,” DeCarlo says in the clip before emerging victorious in a Nerf battle with this more generous – and sunglasses-wearing – version of St. Nick.

Earlier this month, DeCarlo had asked a Santa Claus at the Harlem Irving Plaza shopping center in Norridge for a Nerf gun for Christmas – but was promptly denied. That exchange was captured on video taken by his grandmother and was then posted on Facebook and went viral.

The footage shows the Santa denying DeCarlo’s request, saying, “Nope, no guns.’’

When his mother clarified that he was asking for a Nerf gun, he said, ‘Nope, not even a Nerf gun.’

“If your dad wants to get it for you that’s fine, but I can’t bring it to you,” the Santa added. He then asked DeCarlo what else he would like. Shortly thereafter, DeCarlo started to cry.

Harlem Irving Plaza later wrote on Facebook that the mall and their third-party Santa company were “distraught and deeply apologetic about the unfortunate incident, which occurred at [the] Santa set on December 6, as both parties strive for families and their children to have a happy holiday experience.

“The Santa company will continue to remind all Santa’s how important it is to not impose personal opinions during visits with the children,” the statement continued.

The mall then posted a video on its Facebook page showing the "real” Santa giving DeCarlo a wrapped gift at his home – and said the Santa who denied his request has since resigned.

Hasbro, the company that owns the Nerf brand, also said it sent DeCarlo “a care package of our latest Nerf blasters just in time for the holidays.”

“I am so grateful for all of the people who reached out and sent Nerf guns to Michael. Americans of all backgrounds came together and rallied for my son,” the boy’s mother, Sabella, later says in the NRA’s video, which doubles as an advertisement for the organization. “We have received hundreds of Nerf guns and Michael will be distributing those to other little patriots in need.”

“NRA, thank you for making my family’s Christmas one we will never forget,” added his father, also named Michael.

I'm not saying that what they did here was a bad thing, it wasn't. But it was all about optics, which is what the NRA is all about now. Optics and money.

The NRA has gone from being the largest nonprofit gun rights and education organization in the USA to being an organization that negotiates our rights away and enriches itself with the money its members give it. They don't start the court battles they're supposed to, they wait to see if a court battle is going to win, and then join the battles at the very last moment, giving as little money as possible to the legal proceedings but claiming they were there the whole time, all in the name of optics. "Hey look at us! We were here the whole time! We fought this hard legal battle and won! Nevermind these little guys and other organizations that were actually in court and footed 99.9% of the court and legal fees!"

They fold in the face of any difficult situation.

There was a lawsuit against them in NY challenging their nonprofit status, and they were dead-on in doing so. I don't know what happened with it, but it's been awfully quiet, so I'm assuming money changed hands and it went away.

They're supposed to fight for our Second Amendment rights, but they only show up when it makes them look good and can get them more money.

Fortunately, there are many other organizations that are fighting the legal battles for us, both nationally and on the state level in every state, and I happily support them. But until Wayne LaPierre and his Ackerman-McQueen cronies are completely out of the organization, the power is returned to the board members, and they start initiating the hard legal battles that they currently refuse to do, I'm not giving the NRA one more red cent.
