DECEMBER 18--A Michigan couple will have to pay their 42-year-old son back for destroying his massive pornography stash, a federal judge ruled in a case that included the filing of a 43-page inventory of the man’s porn/sex toy collection.
In an opinion issued last month, Judge Paul Maloney granted a summary judgment in favor of David Werking, who last year sued his parents Paul and Beth, both of whom are 68. Maloney will issue an opinion on damages after the parties make further submissions to the court.
After divorcing his wife, Werking moved in with his parents in late-2016, bringing along personal property that included “a large collection of pornographic material,” according to a court filing.
But after “tensions between David and his parents were running high,” Maloney noted, Werking moved to Indiana, leaving his porn collection in his parents’s Grand Haven home. The Werkings subsequently tossed their son’s belongings, prompting him to file a destruction of property complaint with police.
Beth Werking told police that before David was allowed to move in, it was “requested that he not bring any of his pornography.” She added that, “they knew David had issues with pornography,” according to a police report. While packing David’s belongings after he departed, his parents “found a large amount of pornography that they were upset about being in the residence.” Werking’s mother, cops reported, “advised the items were destroyed and discarded.”
After state prosecutors declined to pursue charges against his parents, Werking filed a U.S. District Court lawsuit against them, claiming that the 12 boxes of porn and sex toys were worth about $25,000.

An inventory filed in the federal case lists 428 VHS tapes, 1605 DVDs, and dozens of sex toys that Werking alleged were disposed of by his parents. “All sex toys bought within a year of each other/never used,” the inventory noted.
Werking’s collection included titles like “Hey my grandma is a whore 18,” “Forced To Lactate 7,” “Lesbian Squirting Midgets,” and “I Wanna Buttfuck a Fatty 3.” His sex toys included a $300 “stone dildo,” a “Fleshlight Freaks Alien Dildo,” and Honey Bear lubricant valued at $25.34.
