A 16 year-old boy stuffed his newborn daughter into a backpack, set her down in some snow – then shot her twice in the head and killed her, a court heard. Logan Kruckenberg-Anderson allegedly murdered his daughter Harper in Albany, Wisconsin, on January 5, his bail hearing was told on Tuesday.
Kruckenberg-Anderson and Harper’s mother, who was not named, are said to have ‘decided that they could not keep the child and they needed to do something to not have the child in their life.’
That saw them plot to ‘get rid of the infant by dropping it somewhere,’ according to an interview Kruckenberg-Anderson is said to have given to police after being arrested.
Afterwards, he is accused of bringing Harper into the woods, and covering her in snow before shooting her. The infant’s tiny corpse was found five days later, with a gunshot wound to the head.
Kruckenberg-Anderson is said to have initially told police that he had given Harper to a friend, but was unable to provide officers with that friend’s name or phone number.
The alleged killer teen is also said to have claimed that he met the pal through Snapchat, and that he’d given them $60 to take Harper to an adoption agency.
Kruckenberg-Anderson later led police to Harper’s body, and told investigators he had left his daughter to die of exposure, it is alleged. He told of hearing Harper’s cries as he walked away from her, NBC 15 reported, although investigators later discovered Harper had been shot dead.
Kruckenberg-Anderson’s virtual court hearing saw ordered held in jail in lieu of $1million bond, and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on January 20.
