A man has been arrested and charged with the alleged theft of several soiled diapers, Toronto police say.
According to Toronto police, the 40-year-old Shane Stephen Kirkaldy appeared in court via video call last Saturday to face eight total charges, including three counts of "Prowl By Night."
According to police, the diaper thefts took place between December 1 and January 23.
He took soiled diapers out of a green organic waste bin next to a home in the Gerrard Street East and Woodbine Avenue area, police say.
Kirkaldy was arrested at 5:10 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, and appeared virtually in court at 10 a.m. that same day.
He faces three counts of Prowl By Night, two counts of Criminal Harassment, and three counts of Theft Under $5,000.
Despite Kirkaldy's arrest last Saturday, Toronto police are asking the public to aid in the investigation.
Anyone who has any information about the incident — or lives in the Gerrard Street East/Woodbine Avenue area and knows about similar incidents — is being asked to contact Toronto police.
