A Sydney high school teacher who is accused of having sex with a student who she also allegedly sent pictures of her genitalia to has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial later in the year.

Monica Elizabeth Young on Monday morning in the Downing Centre District Court formally entered pleas to 12 charges including five counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child.

She has denied allegations that she had sex with the 14-year-old boy and incited him to sexually touch her.

She also pleaded not guilty to one charge of carrying out a sexual act by sending the boy a picture of her vagina via Snapchat.

A court has previously heard Ms Young allegedly sent the boy a Snapchat message of her lying in a bed with the caption: “I’m waiting for you”.

“Not guilty,” she told District Court Judge Kate Traill 12 times as she was formally arraigned.

Ms Young spent a month in custody on remand after her arrest in July last year amid allegations she allegedly assaulted the boy.

It will be alleged the offences took place between June 24 and July 6, 2020.

The court also heard that she will be represented at trial by high-profile barrister Margaret Cunneen SC.

The complainant’s evidence will be prerecorded before her trial begins on September 21 later this year.

It’s estimated the trial will run for five days with three witnesses, including the alleged victim, to give evidence.

Ms Young also had her bail conditions changed so that she is no longer under house arrest and she will instead have to abide by an 8pm-8am curfew.

She will not be allowed to leave the house unless accompanied by her mother, father or grandmother and she must report to police once a day.

Her matter will be mentioned in court next month before her September trial.

She got much less guilty looking by the time the trial came around from the looks of it.
Scales weighed lighter.
