A cafe manager has been forced to apologise after he shared a picture of a receipt describing customers as ‘two very annoying Asians’ online.

Shay Hayston, an owner of Froth on Brunswick and The Stand, in Brisbane, Australia, had allegedly shared the image of the receipt on his Snapchat account, captioning it: ‘Omg I love my staff’, followed by three crying laughing emojis.

He then allegedly told concerned customer Alec Madara it was ‘just a joke’ when he messaged to complain. Mr Madara said he thought it was ‘completely unacceptable’ that staff at the cafe would refer to their customers this way.

In screenshots from Snapchat, Mr Hayston allegedly replies with: ‘Oh give it a rest’. The messages continue: ‘Oh get a grip. It is just a joke. Did I say it no.’

Mr Madara can be seen responding: ‘But you’re the manager. It’s your job to call out behaviour like that. It’s unprofessional and inappropriate.’

‘I called out the behaviour because it is completely unacceptable in this day and age to refer to clients in this way,’ Mr Madara told the Daily Mail.

‘Anyone in a management role knows this would be completely unacceptable.’

The social media pages for Froth on Brunswick have now been closed to the public while a ‘formal internal investigation within the company is completed and resolved’, Yahoo reports.

Mr Hayston has since released a statement apologising for sharing the receipt and the ‘offence and hurt’ he caused.

He continued: ‘I’ve been a business owner in the Valley for more than six years, personally and professionally invested in diversity.

‘I’m deeply disappointed and embarrassed at my actions as they go against everything I pride myself on. Internally, I and my team will do better to ensure we uphold the diversity and inclusivity that is at our core.’

Were the customers Asian?

Were the customers annoying?

If the answer two both questions is "YES"...... where is the problem?
