MAY 5--A Louisiana woman struck her 12-year-old daughter with a belt and then uploaded video of the battering to Instagram in an effort to embarrass the child, according to police.
Cops learned of the video while responding yesterday to a domestic disturbance call at the Monroe residence of Adrian Varner, 33.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Varner recorded video of herself striking her child “with a belt several times” and then posted the clip to Instagram on Monday.
The beating, which apparently was some kind of disciplinary measure, left the girl with “visible bruising to her right arm and right thigh areas,” an investigator reported.
After being read her rights, Varner, seen at right, was questioned about striking her child and reportedly admitted to “beating her motherfucking ass and embarrassing her on Instagram.”
Varner was then handcuffed and booked into the local jail for child cruelty, a felony, and domestic battery. A court filing does not indicate who is now caring for the child.
