SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A Sioux City man is in custody and charged with arson after allegedly setting his neighbor's house on fire because they didn't mow his lawn.

53-year-old Lee Bowman of Sioux City was arrested and charged with Arson 1st and Criminal Mischief.

According to court documents, on Sunday, May 23rd, just before 6:00 p.m., the Sioux City Police received a report of a fire at 3100 block of 8th Street. The corner of the home was burned causing an estimated $3,000 in damages.

A fire investigation revealed this to be arson with sticks and plywood propped up against the house along with a fuel accelerant used.

The victims were in the house at the time of the fire and a neighbor noticed the fire and banged on their door.

Court documents reveal that Bowman lives next door to the victim's house. He was upset because he asked the victims to mow his lawn the day before and they hadn't mowed.

He came to the victim's house on Sunday, which was captured on video. Bowman was asking when they were going to mow IT and he then tried to take the registration sticker off one of their vehicles.

Documents continued to say that Bowman admitted to making a mistake and said gasoline was used along with it coming from a lawnmower.

He is currently in the Woodbury County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
