TOOELE — A Tooele County man already accused of possessing child pornography in one criminal case faces a new charge accusing him of uploading more child porn after he was released from custody.

Marcus Lars Memmott, 24, of Stockton, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. That's in addition to the 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor that were filed against him in the same court six months earlier.

In November, Memmott was arrested by Utah's Internet Crimes Against Children task force and charged the next day.

"Those charges stemmed from distribution of child pornography using a peer-to-peer network from his address. Child pornography was located on Memmott's cellphone. Memmott was released subject to the court's detailed pretrial conditions on Dec. 22, 2020," his new charges state.

Then on Jan. 27, 2021, after Memmott was released from jail pending his trial in his first case, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip that a Dropbox user had uploaded suspected child pornography and the email associated with the Dropbox was Memmott's, the charges state.

"The Dropbox folder contained 1,828 files of pornographic videos and pictures of infants, children and pubescent females," according to the charges.

The same center had received a previous tip in December of 2019 that an account associated with Memmott had uploaded suspected child porn, according to court documents. The charges filed on Tuesday reflect some of the suspected child porn images allegedly uploaded in 2019 and some that were allegedly uploaded in January of 2021.

Prosecutors have requested Memmott be held this time without bail. His next court hearing in his first case is scheduled for June 22.
