Police say two men involved in stealing trading cards from an Adelaide business then went and tried to sell them back to the store the same day.

Three other people have also been charged over the alleged burglary of the gaming store on King William Street, in Adelaide's CBD.

Police say the group broke into the business and stole a large number of rare Digimon trading cards and board games some time on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

About 1:15pm the same day, police say a man returned to the same store and tried to sell the allegedly stolen cards.

Staff called police and the man led officers to a nearby house where they found cards and games, along with two other suspects.

About 3:00pm, a separate man went to the same store and also wanted to sell Digimon cards, but he was also arrested by police.

A 41-year-old Belair man, a 30-year-old Adelaide woman, a 28-year-old Adelaide man, a 28-year-old Seaton man and a 41-year-old man of no fixed address have all been charged with offences including serious criminal trespass, unlawful possession and theft by receiving.

A sixth person is still being sought by police.

Digimon is short for "digital monsters".

As well as trading cards, the characters have inspired movies, anime series, video games, comic books and toys.
