A man posting an advertisement on Facebook has been arrested after viewers spotted something in the background of the photo.

The man had been trying to sell a catalytic converter on Facebook, according to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office, based in the US state of Missouri.

Catalytic converters are used on cars to convert gas and other pollutants.

However, one user noticed something in the background of the photo used in the ad: a syringe and a packet of meth. The photo was forward to police.

Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader wrote on Facebook police “have now provided him a new place to stay.”

The man was arrested on Wednesday.

Sheriff Rader told the station 48 grams of methamphetamine were found in the man's residence along with a handgun.

Police said the man claims he was unaware of any drugs in the photo.

It is not clear what he has been charged with or when he will face court.

Unfortunately, anyone looking to buy the converter will have to look elsewhere as the listing has been removed.
