Brits should avoid experimenting with Ouija boards this Halloween because of links to suicides and “baffling” unsolved murders.

This is according to a paranormal expert who says they can cause untold damage - including having the power to make you kill.

The spooky boards are a way to communicate with spirits from beyond the grave.

But ghost investigator Tom Slemen urged Halloween lovers to avoid them at all cost after there was a surge of interest during the lockdowns.

He told the Daily Star: “People don’t realise they are risking their lives and their mental health with their dabbling.

“Ouijamania is still sweeping the country at the moment and it will get even worse at Halloween."

He continued: “There are many cases on record where the Ouija orders those who use it to kill a certain person.

“I genuinely believe there are Ouija-driven murderers at large who are responsible for some of the most baffling unsolved murders in police files because they probably appear to be random killings.”

He also said there is an evil Ouija spirit named Quancass who tortures people in their sleep with fire unless they resort to arson.

Tom - author of the Haunted Liverpool series - added: “Several police psychiatrists in the United States and Britain have heard the demon’s name mentioned by arsonists who have undergone psychiatric evaluation.”

This channel into the afterlife is based around a board that a group sits around with their hands placed on a triangular pointer called a planchette.

The planchette rests on the board, which has the words yes, no and the alphabet in the centre. It also has the word goodbye at the bottom.

The idea is to summon a spirit which will move the planchette around the board to answer your questions.

But Tom said the supernatural talking boards have been linked to suicides.

He added: “There was a case many years ago where two schoolgirls jumped hand in hand out of a fifth floor window because they were filled with utter dread after a Ouija board had told them they would ‘die in pieces’ in a car crash.”

But Tom said that if you were still daring to try Ouija boards this Halloween, there are certain lines you shouldn’t cross.

He explained: “There are three things you should not question the Ouija about and they are God, death and money.

“You must never, even in jest, ask if someone will die because in the past dabblers have been told how they will die but the entity will rarely say when so you can’t avoid your scheduled death.”

Despite the grim warnings, Tom said Brits should still enjoy the spooky season - but within reason.

He said: “Enjoy halloween by all means, go trick or treating and party in fancy dress.

“Watch slasher movies, but please, do not mess with the upturned glass or your life could turn into a real-life horror film.”
