A fuming dad who allegedly killed his best friend after he discovered that he had sexually assaulted his young daughter has had his house arrest sentence extended.
Vyacheslav (Slava) Matrosov, 34, allegedly killed Oleg Sviridov, 32, in a forest in Russia after making him dig his own grave.
This is the second time a judge has ordered house arrest for two months, rather than custody in this murder case, with public opinion very vocal in its support for Matrosov.
Prominent TV journalist and former Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak told her followers: "All parents are standing up for the paedophile’s killer."

The incident started when Matrosov accidentally found graphic videos on Oleg Sviridov’s phone, where he made the child perform sex acts while she pleaded that she wanted to go home.
After being found in a "hysterical" state by his wife, he went to confront his pal, Sviridov, giving him an ultimatum either to turn himself in to the police or take his own life.
But later that same evening Matrosov led his friend into a nearby forest in the Samara region, where it is alleged he killed him after making him dig his own grave.

Police arrested the dad on suspicion of murder, but he denies the charge, arguing that Sviridov attacked him and fell on the knife in the struggle.
His wife claimed that the alleged paedophile tried to stab him with the knife and that her husband fought back.
After the discovery of Sviridov’s body, there was a groundswell of support for Matrosov in the local area.

Two months into the investigation, prosecutors requested judge Maxim Volkov at Krasnoglinsky District Court to keep former rocket engine factory worker Matrosov under house arrest rather than place him in a detention centre as is normal with murder suspects.
Locals have called for him to face a lenient punishment or no custodial sentence at all.
A petition signed by 2,500 people demanded that he should be fully acquitted.

Villagers in Pribrezhnoye raised cash to help him defend himself, according to reports and are supporting him for "saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker".
Legal experts have said that under Russian law Matrosov is still likely to face a custodial sentence – up to 15 years – even though his own daughter was his best friend’s alleged victim.
Two other children in the village are feared to have been abused by Sviridov as well.
