Watched Enterprise because it was one of the few (new) Star Trek series I wanted to check out and then Hal gave it a thumbs up too. I liked it for the most part, but man I have a few major complaints after seeing the first episode

It was only the first episode (both parts) that I watched and like I said, I liked it for the most part but there were some huge flaws for me in it. You know I'm a TOS snob

First off....WTF is up with the opening theme song for the show? :wha:

And then the rest:
Now I realize that TOS was made in the 60's with production value and special effects that were era appropriate, but geez, this is supposed to be a prequel, you shouldn't have everything look waaaaaaaay more futuristic and advanced that the show you are "prequeling" especially when that show takes place nearly 100 years farther in the future.

And my other major complaint is the Klingons. :| In TOS the Klingons looked completely humanoid and then sometime post TOS they got that funky look to their heads. Well, the Klingons in the prequel look like the post TOS Klingons....how the hell does that work? :wha:

I hate continuity issues so much

If you watch all 4 seasons the continuity actually becomes quite good. What I couldn't stand was Archer's early Howdy Doody delivery in everything he said ...." Hello! :) I am Captain Archer and we're on a peaceful mission of exploration, can we help?"

*cut to cool Klingon ship blasting a huge hole into the Enterprise*

And the opening song changes tempo/style about halfway through the series. Same crap song tho...It's a crime because the opening montage of images is so good. If you google this series, the opening song comes up more often than not

The look...after you settle into the series, you'll realize how simplified things are. The warp engines, doors being opened with buttons, phase pistols, polarizing hull plating rather than putting shields up...They'll actually address most of the tech in future episodes and/or refer to newer tech (TOS time....) that's when this series gets really good.

Klingons - Well, in every series after TOS, Klingon's looks have changed...why stop there?

Hal-9000

The ships and CGI in Enterprise look great...there is an arc to both the characters and the ship, but you have to watch it unfold over 4 years. Things will change..

Klingon look from TOS - No money, no bumps, just lots of Fu-Machu's and brown face paint
Every series (and movies) since then - More money and bumps

simple :slap:

Archer's Dad helped Cochrane design the first warp engine, I liked that tie in.

Eventually they go back to the day the Vulcans first arrived on Earth, so this series draws on everything from TOS to the movies.

Yes, I started with an episode here or there and then got netflix and watched like all of Season 2011 and got hooked.. Once I watched that season I went back as far as I could on netflix and have been watching a few episodes a week.. It's a really smart show.. The doctor is a long living creature and when killed he regenerate into his next carnation.. Same psyche but different shell.. The only catch is after 12 regenerations he dies... He's on # 11 now.

You know, I haven't seen every episode of Supernatural, as I came into it only recently. But every so often I get to watch the earlier episodes and comparing the old and the new, it really feels like the show isn't what it used to be. But I guess after 8 seasons you can expect that.

CBS Renews Under the Dome for Season 2
by Natalie Abrams

CBS is staying Under the Dome!

The network has ordered a second season of the drama, which is based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. The 13-episode second season will kick off with an episode written by King. The drama takes a look at the lives of the residents of Chester's Mill, who have been mysteriously trapped under an impregnable dome.

"We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester's Mill and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season," said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler in a statement.

Over its first season, the series has been averaging 13.84 million viewers and a 3.5 in the 18-49 demographic.

Under the Dome airs Mondays at 10/9c on CBS.

How about this....I'm curious to see where it goes with this new TV treatment and adding the second season. The books features ideas that play into how the story is resolved, the TV series has changed every one of those. I can't list the differences as it will ruin it for those who haven't read the book. They are major differences and 3 things occurred in this week's episode that will change the story completely.

Yes, this is definitely the last season for it. It started early because Showtime pushed them to speed up production so that Dexter would be the lead in for the new show that is on after Dexter on Sunday nights (don't know what it is, don't watch it). So because production was rushed, some critics are saying that is part of the reason things may seem a little weak this season.

But FFS how many storylines do we need all at once?

Rest in spoiler tags in case people are behind this season:
First they started off with the Brain Surgeon killer....what for? He was killed off in like episode 3, why not just start the whole thing with the up- and-coming kid serial killer instead? That short arc seemed pointless to me. And now the whole part with Masuka and his long lost daughter? Again, what's the point? Same with Batista's sister and Quinn, another useless story. And now you have Hanna returning and the whole protege thing with the kid, it's just too much all at once for a series that is wrapping up in what? 5 or 6 more episodes? :wha:

That was funny

And also...
What a horrible non-cliffhanger they left us with from last week. Here comes Hannah back on the scene, she's drugged Deb and Dex....who knows what nefarious plan she has in mind for the both of them! And then when this week's episode starts we find out that her plan was to.....

....leave Dex on the side of the road across town and leave Deb sleeping on the floor of her house. :|

What a joke

Yeah, unfortunately that seems to happen more often than not when the stars are given producing rolls in the series :(

That's why I fell asleep during the ep....I couldn't figure out what the goal was of that entire scene.....could have been very creepy, instead it was just a hello? :|
