The storyline might not be that far-fetched. Imagine a weaponized hantavirus or ebola. Shit that'll make your face melt off like that German dude from Raiders of the Lost Ark. There's supposedly shit like that being researched somewhere. If any of that junk ever gets into the wild, we're all dead. It's conceivable that people at the extreme poles of the Earth would be safe from a global outbreak, provided they're there when the outbreak starts and they don't leave until the majority of the infected are dead and they're aware of the communicability of the disease in question and take appropriate measures to avoid contamination. And I thought the production value was pretty good for a TV show.

I could get a few quotes from around the net....I never said it was far fetched

complaints - interesting premise, crap cast (other than Rhona Mitra) and quite possibly the most boring hour of TV on this week. The effects were minimal for a Bay production and it seemed like I was watching a slapped together regular Syfy offering. No check that, Sharknado was 100 times more engaging. Jayne Cobb interacting with that paint by numbers hunk captain was just brutal and things like - only 4 of us called our homes and made it through. Why did the 4 calls make it?

Parts of the premise were laughable - Send a ship to the Arctic to aid two scientists who are looking for migrating birds? (that was the 4 month excuse given to them) So they take a fully staffed and armed battlecruiser, send it where ever for 4 months and no radio contact? Ummm, why?? If they were two scientists looking for birds, wouldn't you wonder about the secrecy and danger involved for a total radio blackout?

For me, it was a whole bunch of blah considering the premise...

You said the commercial had a better storyline... why was the storyline better? How was it better? If you didn't think the storyline was far-fetched, then you have some other complaint besides other people's inability to suspend disbelief that you're reading about on the net?

Who cares if the cast isn't a bunch of A-listers? It's TNT for chrissakes, not a big budget movie. Cable TV, and not even premium cable. They can't afford Brad Pitt.

The effects were minimal? Because the blasts didn't all look like nuclear explosions like Bay likes to do in his shit movies? If you asked me, I'd say the minimalism could be better characterized as realistic.

I'm sorry, but this TV show was way better than any randomly put together Syfy offering. If you believe different, then... whatever.

Four calls got through? You'd rather everybody be dead? It seemed to me that not everybody was dead/incapacitated at that point in the story. They were passing messages to and from the ship, why can't some people still be alive? Why can't some lines still be open? Who are you? The boss of Ma Bell? We're in the middle of the shit, not at the end. People don't all fall down at the same time. Some people would probably struggle to keep shit going for as long as possible.

They're military people. How should they act given the circumstances?

The premise that they were there solely for the government scientist's purposes is wrong. They were there under the premise of running top secret military weapons drills. Radio silence would be part of the drills. They were told that the scientists were tagging along because the research they were going to be doing would be in the same general vicinity where the top secret military drills were being performed, and the idea was "Hey! We're going in the same direction! Let's save some tax payers some money and go there together! We won't get in each other's way!" The military doesn't always operate with full knowledge of actual objectives for reasons stated in the show. Being from a family that has a history of military service I can tell you that the deception depicted in this show could really happen and for lesser reasons.

It was being promoted up here as the best sci-fi (note the difference in spelling) show since sliced bread and they made a big deal about Bay producing. So sorry some people associate Bay with huge budgets and grandiose effects...why...BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE FUCKING DOES

Again, it's my opinion and your 8 paragraph essays don't inspire me to like any more than I did

I think the whole devil thing was "him" (the evil) appearing to her to try and get a "yes". The real cowboy guy was sitting downstairs the whole time.

And now I'm trying to figure out who the hell the cowboy really is. I would think you would need some serious god juice to be able to expel the demon from her.

And yes, her performance was amazing the last two episodes.

Now that the story has been completely changed from the book, it's hard to say. In the book Junior kept dead girls in a house and Angie was brutally raped..and had a baby (before the rape).

One big difference is Big Jim and Junior were very, very bad people in the book.

"Much of the acting is quite bad. It's just silly really. The plot has more in common with a romance novel, or a soap opera, than it does with anything that you might expect from a world-ending plague and the Navy crew who better hope they can save what's left of humanity."

That and the laughable effects, choices in storyline make it -10 in the Top 50 new shows

I've got some links to the news story if you're not familiar with it. I read a book by one of the prosecutors and it was a tough read.

Long one short - young, good looking couple gets married...he asserts his dominant nature, she plays for him and they eventually kidnap a girl off the street. They torture and sexually abuse her, then kill her and then cut her up and put the parts in cement blocks.

They do this to two girls and Karla's little sister.....her sister dies because of an overdose of a drug they use to tranq animals, coupled with some booze.

The couple gets caught, dude is in for life, Karla plea bargains saying she was a product of an abusive relationship and gets out after something like 8 years served. Not everyone bought the 'abused wife syndrome' and also say that Karla was instrumental in the sex play and subsequent deaths of the girls.

I agree with that, but if I had a nitpick about Under the Dome this season, it's about 2 of the new major characters of the show. They have been (obviously) trapped under the dome the whole time, but they weren't at all seen or mentioned last season? Seems odd that with all the crap that has happened, that 2 people (at least) could remain completely 'anonymous' living there.

You know I'm a purist about this show because of reading the book...I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying that in the book...the main point being that there was a very limited time frame, causing a sense of incredible urgency.

King wrote the second season opener and obviously must have given the writers license to change a boatload of plotlines and ideas. eg The girl in question now, Julia being connected, the four hands on the egg....all of that is new.

So yeah, people popping out of the woodwork probably comes from that license for change. They'll keep popping until the series is cancelled I imagine

Okay, one other thing that is bothering me

That science teacher....for just being a small town science teacher, how did she suddenly become a virologist FFS? Did she stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

I'm sorry, that's just not something that you 'pick up' from reading a few books.

I liked the second Strain episode. That convo between the two old guys (I suspect from WW2) was intense. Guy who plays the dapper evil guy is quite creepy IMO

Its hard to believe it, I know its scifi but still it needs to be believable and these actors in both shows arent delivering. The dialog on under the dome is atrocious. I dont know why I keep watching it, I guess I like the story but jesus get some writers.
