Being Human (US) - season 1, episodes 1-3

And? Your analysis please Mr Spock

Having watched all 3 seasons of the original UK version, you can tell which one created the ideas and which one has the larger budget
I like the UK version for the ideas and some of the acting. The US version is much slicker and has already condensed or changed plot points completely.

The US version has a lot better production values, yet I liked the Brit actress who played Annie the ghost and the Irish actor who played Mitchell, the UK vampire. The Brit guy who played George (the werewolf) was also better cast IMO,
he's a quirky physical actor with some humorous lines...although the UK wolf effects could be laughable at times.Given the choice I'd rather watch the US version. It looks edgy and has some good effects.

The UK season 3 finale may have been a mistake, it may hurt the series quite a bit...

I dont mind the Chief and the XO, in fact there both pretty cool choices, but the other 2? No, didn't like that, wasnae even like they've been in the show since the beginning! Robbed! The other two could have been much better choices.. And what, I find out whos the 5th in the last episode of season 4? Thats a hypothetical question, I dont really want to know!

Nice ending though. Be interesting what they do wi Starbuck next..:-k

I just started watching this recently. The first season is on Netflix right now, and the hubby and I have been catching up on it. Some of the episodes are hit or miss, but all of them are funny and have pretty great moments in them at the very least. This is actually the last show I've watched as well, but I'm about halfway through the first season (I think).

They're actually following the books for the most part, too. The fairy part is in the books, as is a lot that's been going on. Tara wasn't in the books, though, so pretty much any storyline they have with her is stuff that got made up in the writer's room. But yeah... the books get a little... weird after a while. The tv series is just following suit.

Spoiler for UK Being Human

In the UK version, the cop is played by this wild kind of Benny Hill character  They lock him in a room with George (the werewolf) and George rips him to pieces.I noticed the US version had Aidan decapitate his cop.I thought it was interesting because in the UK version, vamps can come back if not staked or decapitated...

One more HUGE spoiler for UK Being Human..

At the end of the 3rd season that recently finished up, they killed Mitchell the vampire. The actor has been quoted as saying he's working on the new Hobbit movie as a dwarf and he won't return to the role ever.Strangely, the actor's name is Aidan Turner...IMO that cast member loss will kill the show.He was the most interesting and charismatic of the 3 characters..and he got staked, turned to dust.

I was right

The more I read about Deadwood, the more I hear it compared to Shakespeare
In some monologues, they write in iambic pentameter, Shake's favorite cadence to read to...

I just thought some of the various exchanges reminded me of narratives from Macbeth and Hamlet

You made the perfect point earlier when we were talking about it....some character would make a long Shakespearean style speech and then whoever they were talking to would follow up with something like "Alright then"

I did look into it because the last episode of season 3 didn't feel like a series finale. It looks like there was supposed to be a fourth season, but HBO dropped the show because it was too expensive to film :|

and two threats of made for TV movies that never materialized...

Now the cool bits - Wild Bill Hickok did show up there in 1867 and died playing poker. The Earp brothers also showed, not working a gold claim but trees, like the show mentioned.
Al's place in the heyday took in 5000 -8000 per night...the equivalent of 140 - 180 thousand dollars today.

Charlie Utter was more of a showman than the series made him out to be and also a supposed good shot.Calamity Jane was an alki and also as tough as she was portrayed. It was often thought she lied
about riding with Wild Bill, until Utter corroborated her story.Like on the TV show, she pined for Hickok long after his death and claimed to be married to him at one point.

Deadwood - season 3, episode 11

Wow, the tension has been building up this whole season, I can only imagine what the last episode will be like

Yeah I read that they left all of the storylines open, as they didn't know if the series would return.

Too bad they didn't have the foresight to do a finale....Al waited so long to get to Hearst, it was driving me nuts

Yup, although they took some poetic license with a lot of what was shown on the show, there was quite a big chunk of it based on fact. I think I mentioned before that the guy that developed and wrote the series spent something like 2 years researching the history of Deadwood just because he wanted to make it as much based on history as he could.

And I know about Wild Bill being killed there, I see the ads for the city of Deadwood all the time trying to attract tourists. In fact, the hand that he had when he was shot (aces and eights) is called the Dead Man's Hand (although there is speculation as to whether or not that is the hand Wild Bill actually had at the time)

It keeps getting better with every passing episode, that's for sure. I wasn't hooked for good until halfway thru the 2nd season. I'm 2 episodes into season 3 so far. Hopefully I will be all caught up by the end of the weekend.

That's your opinion...just like what I said about Falling Skies was my opinion. And I didn't feel the need to go out of my way to trash your opinion ;)

That was a long wait!

I guessed a couple things right and a couple things wrong, but that last shot sets up the big story of this season!

Breaking Bad has great cinematography a well as realistic, scary scripts.

Some of the angles and shots are pretty cool, especially at the outset of the episodes
