TNG is good, but had a rough start. I can't recall how many seasons it lasted but I'm sure you could start watching midway around season two and not miss much.

Deep Space Nine *only because I never watched much of it. Show supposedly had some good episodes and writing later in the series.

I think Deep Space Nine was a little on the darker side. There was a little more in the way of politics in it than there were in the other series. To be honest, it didn't really feel like a Star Trek series. It was kind of it's own universe. I liked it, but I can't really speak to it's position in your rankings. I've never watched Enterprise, Voyager, or Discovery. Or Days of Our Lives, either.

TNG had to find itself and I can't remember when it became less cheessy, more interesting. I do recall the time it came out and the pressure the show was under because it was the first Trek series since the original. I'm sure you could miss episodes. I found the episodes with Data good because of the AI aspect and the actor playing him.

Yeah, right now in the series, at the beginning, it's VERY cheesy, the acting (or overacting) is bad and it's just trying too hard. But like you said, the series was under a lot of pressure when it first came out.

Not a spoiler in any sense. If you watch Discovery this week (s02e12) pay attention to the first scene Pike and Burnham share at the start of the episode.

She interrupts his orders point blank and slowly says in a pissy voice what she thinks needs to be done. All that's wrong with the show in one exchange.

It became a meta experience as it played out in real time because the growing weekly popularity of the podcast brought increased attention to the case. Depending on what you believe, it either helped or hindered Adnan's quest for justice. Let me know if you think he's guilty or innocent based on what they present.

The documentary goes much further than the podcast as the case continued. I would say I don't know if he's guilty, but there's not enough to convict.

The cellphone data was bullshit. He wins a new trial on appeal. Before the state appeals that ruling he is offered a deal. Plead guilty, serve another 4 years, go home at 40. He declines. That state appeals. He loses.

I forgot about that LARGE part of the show. Don't want to give spoilers but Joan is THE secretary of the 60's and Peggy's story is good.

What I really liked was how they interjected actual ad campaigns into the show, and some of them were huge. And it was the wild west during the early days in NYC. Those dudes were writing their own checks and when you see them having drinks at 10 am and then all day, that's close to what top agencies did. Most accounts were print advertising and TV advertising was still relatively new...those guys were printing money back then.

Me and the wife like it. It's different. And regardless of what people claimed, it has nothing to do with Z Nation. It's produced by the same production company, but it's not a comedic show by any stretch.

Adrianne Palicki is ridiculously hot though, so the show gets a point for that.

On The Magicians there's an actress who plays Alice. Her name is Olivia Taylor Dudley. She is an exact double of the girl I lost my virginity to. (girlfriend in grade nine).

She's not sorta close or kinda resembles her, she's an exact double right down to her chest size. Same weird nose, same hair, same large glasses, same pissy sneer to her mouth and the same voice.

I nearly fell out of my chair watching the first season of the show because of the resemblance. It's hard to describe but the actress is hot yet odd looking, just like my old g/f.

Season 7 is already slated and now they are involved in the curse of the confederate gold. Marty makes over 8 million a year on that show, he isn't stopping as long as its making money. He is 1st and foremost a business man. All the crap about stopping is just to cause drama.

I finished this. Once you get past the fact that the lead blonde isn't really all that attractive, the lead male is annoying and an all around bad actor, and the romantic dialogue is cringe-worthy, it kind of picks up around episode 4 or 5. It was renewed for a second season, so apparently some people liked it. The twist at the end was pretty cool, but now I'm gonna have to watch the second season to see how it plays out.

Somebody else told me they watched that this week and said the same thing..

For documentaries or docuseries like these I often read articles that list - what they got wrong/right compared to the actual event. This one doesn't add a lot of BS to the story.

They showed people getting sick within hours and by the next day it was pure horrorshow shit for people at ground zero.

I had already read about one instance they showed when a helicopter full of scientists and officials flew close to the site as it was still burning the next day. They thought it was a fire when actually the reactor core was open. It looked like flames and one scientist realized the glow was actually a form of nuclear fission happening...in the air above the plant.

or more simply - if a measurement of 100 rads can make a person sick over time, the level was at about 100000000 rads

It's the denial that was the really scary thing...

Just watched Episode 1-2 this week, going to finish it up this weekend. It's incredible, extremely tense, well acted, my only complaint is that there are only three episodes! I could watch hours and hours of this. I read a little about how accurate the show was, and historians are mostly praising it. There are some dramatizations like how fast people showed signs of radiation poisoning, and how dangerous the risk of the steam explosion from the full tanks was, but mostly it sounds like the show's producers did a great job staying true to history.

I knew the Soviets were in denial and slow to evacuate nearby citizens, but my wife and I were almost yelling at the TV, the actions of the Party members were so frustrating and political

I'm going to have to order a book or two on the subject now, I just want to know more.

I was just having a conversation about this series at the facility I'm staying in Germany. We have a lot of overseas people coming through.

I was told that the in German forests the wild boar are so radioactive (even now) that if you shoot one you have to hand it over to the authorities.

A Ukranian doctor that stayed here a while back was one of the first respondents at Chernobyl - he died of cancer while still quite young.

Recently, one of my Japanese colleagues in the same organisation died a couple months ago of cancer of the jaw. He was a total clean living guy and a Meditator. I was just told he lived 'just over the hill' from Fukushima reactor.

The series is mostly fluff, often borrowing from itself telling various stories. In one episode they try to liken Woodstock to the battles the LGQT community fight today.

In general I've always been fascinated with that year. So much happened. Moon landing, Manson, celebs dying, Woodstock...that summer in particular was a turning point for a lot of things.

Chernobyl Episode 5.

Man, that was a rough series.

This and agreed. GF and I were posting about what did and didn't happen. Episode five makes it clear.

Fear the Walking Dead

After the intro scene where Morgan was narrating over them all being shown 'doing stuff', when Morgan stopped talking I said out loud to the wife...."If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire: The A-Team."

It was the first thing that popped into my head watching that intro

Not really a spoiler but if you listen to them for about 10 minutes, no one really has survived throughout their great campaign of helping people

Maybe people should call the A-Team

People complain about TWD , but THIS show has really jumped the shark IMHO. I think I only watch it now to see how bad it will get.

Chick podcaster I like calls Al's vehicle - The Big Shooty Wagon

We had quite the conversation talking about how it needs diesel to run and how long gas and diesel supplies can last sitting in tanks...and also the need for at least 30 cal bullets for the mounted machine guns.

When you start picking apart the logic like that, the zombies seem pretty believable in comparison

Don't mind the negative crap about the final season.

It's a great story and each season features at least one huge episode where incredible shit happens
