Tech advances don't happen overnight. There's usually a metric ton of issues that need to be ironed out, and they're not always obvious from the beginning. You can't think of everything all the time. Some things pop up unexpectedly when you solve the early problems. Things you couldn't see early on. That's why I'm skeptical of the push for putting people on Mars. There's a whole mess of shit that nobodies talking about. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it happen in my lifetime, I just don't think there's going to be a happy ending on the first go around.

We'll get the autopilot cars eventually, probably soon, and maybe Musk will be the guy that gets it right. Time will tell.

Hopefully it will happen by the time I shouldn't be driving. Mobility is one of the keys to surviving old age.
