MEMPHIS, TN – A mother from Memphis allegedly threatened to blow up her son’s school after becoming angry over he son’s lost backpack.

The 30-year-old parent, Loretta Clayton, said:


“Some kids will be missing.”

Court documents reveal that a teaching assistant told local police that she responded to a call from Clayton. The mother had called seeking information about her son’s lost backpack. She then grew angry and threatened to blow up the school.

Clayton concluded the conversation but called back. This time she spoke with the principal. The woman said her name was Loretta Treadwell, which is her maiden name.

She was warned by the principal to not threaten the elementary school.

The principal told police that the mother did call previously that week regarding the lost backpack.

Clayton was charged with the threat of mass violence on school property which is a misdemeanor. Her court date is set for Thursday.
