Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked during a show in Los Angeles Tuesday night after a man reportedly jumped on stage. The alleged attacker was injured in the attack and was carried away in an ambulance, according to reports.

Videos of the incident appear to show the man jumping onto the stage at the Hollywood Bowl, where Chappell was performing his standup routine for his Netflix Is A Joke tour, when he attempted to tackle the comedian.

He was swiftly taken away by security and other individuals, who appeared to repeatedly hit the man just off-stage, videos appear to show.

Immediately following the attack, Chappelle remained on stage and thanked security, before joking about the incident and describing the individual who attacked him as a "trans man."

Chappelle makes several jokes about the trans community in his standup routine and even boasted during Tuesday night’s performance that he has been recently forced to increase his security amid new threats.

The attack reportedly happened as Chappelle was ending his show.

Another video appeared to show the attacker being carted away by paramedics, with a crowd of people booing and cussing at him. Several police and emergency response vehicles could be seen at the venue in various videos.

At least one individual who was armed with a gun and knife was taken into custody, following the attack, police said.

Chappelle will continue his tour later this month on the East Coast, with an event at the Etess Arena at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey on May 28.

The incident occurs less than two months after Will Smith walked on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock during the 94th Academy Awards on April 27.

After the incident, Smith returned to his seat and was allowed to participate in the rest of the Oscars, even walking onto the stage later in the ceremony to receive an award.

Days later, Smith announced his resignation from the Academy, and he was subsequently banned from attending Academy-sponsored events for ten years.

"My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful and inexcusable," Smith said in a statement.

After the ban was announced, Smith released another statement saying: "I accept and respect the Academy’s decision."

The man who attacked Dave Chappelle during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday will not be charged with felony charges despite carrying a replica pistol with a folding knife blade affixed the end of it on his person.

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón’s office declined Thursday to file felony charges against Isaiah Lee, 23, who was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following his tackling of Chappelle.

"The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has referred the case to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for misdemeanor filing consideration," Greg Risling, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Disctrict Attoreny's Office, told Fox News Digital in a statement on Thursday.

"After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct. The District Attorney’s Office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes within the city of Los Angeles," it concluded.

Lee is still being held on $30,000 bail.

Sources told the Los Angeles Times that Lee did not appear to brandish the weapon during his assault on Chappelle, and the weapon was inside a bag he was carrying, which led to prosecutors constituting that the deadly weapon aspect was wiped away among other reasons.

An investigation as to how Lee not only made his way into the Bowl with the weapon but meandered his way to the front stage before gaining access is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami told Fox News Digital, "Anyone who arms themselves with a deadly weapon, in this case a knife, and violently attacks an innocent person, famous or not, should be charged accordingly.

"With only a misdemeanor charge, the person could be released soon, with only a slap on the wrist. That fails to provide justice to the victim, accountability for this persons actions, and safety to the general public. These concepts, however, like public safety and justice, that most of us value, are concepts George Gascón can care less about."

After Chappelle was attacked during his gig at the "Netflix Is A Joke" Festival Tuesday evening, local comedy club owners are telling the comic community not only do they "stand by" Chappelle, but they are also urging everyone to "protect our comics!"

Chappelle then doubled down on a joke that the attacker "was a Trans man" – a reference to his recent schism with the community after many called Chappelle transphobic for his jokes during his latest Netflix stand-up special, "The Closer."

Chris Rock also appeared on the stage after Chappelle was attacked and joked, "Was that Will Smith?"

Isaiah Lee, the 23-year-old man charged with tackling Dave Chappelle, said he did it because the comedian stepped over the line with stand-up material about LGBTQ people and homelessness.

“I identify as bisexual … and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering,” he told The New York Post in a jailhouse interview out of Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, California.

Lee reportedly said that Chappelle should be more “sensitive.”

He faces charges including battery and possessing a deadly weapon with intent to assault. Strictly put, however, this misdemeanor case is the least of his worries in criminal court. L.A. county prosecutors, ended up also charging him with attempted murder for an unrelated incident in which he allegedly stabbed a roommate. This allegedly happened in transitional housing on Dec. 2. The two incidents are unrelated, but LA County D.A. George Gascón said publicity from the attack on Chappelle resulted in the victim, who previously reported the incident to cops, identifying Lee as the culprit.

Lee told the Post that he went from facing only six months in jail, doing community service and living in transitional housing to facing possibly 15 or more years in prison.

“My son [age five] will be big by the time I get out,” he said.

As seen on video, Lee rushed the stage of The Hollywood Bowl on May 3. In 2020, he released a rap song, which he named after Chappelle. Lee did not appear to talk about the comedian in any clear way.

“Life with you n***as a joke,” he said in a representative lyric.

The comedian has faced staunch criticism for recent transphobic jokes, though he has insisted the controversy wasn’t about him versus the LGBTQ community but “about corporate interests and what I can say and what I cannot say.”

Chappelle made a crack about the tackling after security dragged Lee away; he said the attacker was a “trans man.”

Lee told the Post he was bisexual. He said that Chappelle also joked about homelessness.

“I’m also a single dad and my son is five,” said Lee, who reportedly used to be homeless. “It’s a struggle and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it’s not a joke.”

Another comedian had made a joke about pedophilia. This elicited memories of being molested at age 17 while under the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services, he said.

As seen on footage, Lee sustained serious injury, as he was carried into an ambulance while his elbow was pointing forward.

Lee told the Post that security guards broke his arm and gave him two black eyes.

“They spat on me and twisted me as if on purpose,” he said. Chappelle at the time said guards were stomping the then-unidentified Lee, and that he joined in too.

Police originally booked Lee into jail for assault with a deadly weapon, a felony. They said he pointed a “replica handgun” that hid a knife. Lee told the Post he did have it on him during the incident, but he asserted he did not take it out.

Lee has pleaded not guilty in the attempted murder case. He denied to the Post that he lived with mental health challenged. His attorney said he was getting treatment.
