If the presence of Tyrannosaurus Rex isn’t enough to make anyone shudder, consider this Pilosaur that might have dined on one of those big fellows for Sunday brunch!

The 8-foot long skull and jaws with teeth that belong in the world of nightmares are now on permanent display in an English museum. Kevan Sheehan, a local collector, discovered the skull of this monstrous predator, which is estimated to be 155 millions years old, off England’s southern coast back in 2009.

In the words of paleontologist, Richard Forrest: “This was the most powerful predator that ever lived. It could bite a small car in half.”

Scientists believe that the Pilosaur resembled an enormous, hideous crocodile and was probably somewhere near 50 feet long. Despite being able to identify it, there remains much mystery surrounding the species and its origins.

The skull was unveiled earlier this month at the Dorset County Museum after being in preparation stages for almost a year and a half. Sir David Attenborough, naturalist and broadcaster, unveiled the skull to an astonished (and horrified) viewing audience.

Considering the sheer bulk and power of this horrible creature, the fact that it had a brain barely the size of a peanut is enough to give momentary pause.

Scientists are planning to study the creature for at least another year by comparing it to existing specimens. That is the only way they will be able to determine whether or not it is something new or just horribly old.
