I am unsure of the current situation, but it seems that US vets are getting slapped badly at the moment by their senators,

Can someone tell me the back ground in very simple terms?

I haven't seen a whole lot on it, my focus has been on something else. However, generally speaking, Republicans vote against a bill for the Vets when there's a whole mess of unrelated crap stuffed into the bill that shouldn't be there. Not saying that that's what happened, but the news is just starting to talk about it, so we'll see.

It looks like the bill is still alive, it just needs to be amended to get rid of the extraneous crap before it gets signed into law. Everything popping up on the TV about how the Republicans are mistreating our veterans is led by Democrats. This is politics, pure and simple. What you're seeing is a dirty game by the left to demonize Republicans in an attempt to avoid the onslaught that the Democrats are going to face in the midterms in November.
