I'm really hoping that the 'red wave' happens and the electorate sends a message to these asshats in power right now, but I'm very cautiously optimistic. The democrats have already been whining for weeks now that if things don't go their way that it's obviously because of "voter suppression".

And sadly, I live in a state that is as blue as California, so I don't have much hope that things will change much in Colorado, if at all.

Also, why is Trump taking shots at DeSantis already? FFS we don't need party in-fighting, we need unity at the time of elections.

For all the good Trump did in his term in office, he's an absolute moron when it comes to common sense in matters like this. It's Trump's fault that Georgia went blue in 2020 in the US Senate.

Because Trump knows that if DeSantis runs in '24, DeSantis will kick Trump's ass. Trump came out later and walked back his statements and told Floridians to vote for DeSantis.

Trump's only partly responsible for what happened in GA in '20. Atlanta invited Hollywood to set up shop in GA, so an influx of entertainment types came out to work and live in the state. They're largely Progressives. I think now that the Centrists in my state have seen what the Dems are up to, they'll come back to the Conservative side this time around and more Republicans will come out and vote.

Trump flat out told republicans to stay home and not vote in the Georgia senate runoff elections because the election was rigged and their vote wouldn't count. He single handedly kept enough republican voters from voting in a close election that it threw both seats to the democrats.

And I can only hope that DeSantis can win the nomination in 2024, there are still an awful lot of Trump acolytes that think he walks on water and would do anything he says. Don't get me wrong, I would 100% vote for him if he ends up the nominee because there is no way I could vote for one of the clown show contestants on the democrat side, but the best way for the republicans to win the WH in 2024 is to move on from Trump.

The polls haven't even closed yet and Stacey Abrams is already whining about voter suppression.

I agree. There are enough Independents, moderate Republicans and even some moderate Democrats that would definitely vote for a strong Republican candidate next time around as long as it isn't Trump. I hope he doesn't run or at least not become "the" candidate.

Abbott's in the lead.

I think Abbott won... decisively. It looks like Stacey Abrams conceded the race to Brian Kemp, although none of the tv news outlets are reporting it just yet, or so I've seen.

It's official, Kemp won (thank God). It looks like Walker and Warnock are heading for a runoff.

It's a district on the US/Mexico border and Flores was very vocal about the massive illegal immigration pouring into the nation since Biden took office. Furthermore, she was the anti-AOC. This election was supposed to be a moratorium on Biden and the Democrat's inaction and insanity on the border issue. Similarly, Kelly is currently leading in the Arizona Senate race. He should be getting his ass beat hard over the border issue. Granted that election isn't over yet, but still, AZ should be deep red right now. Damn Californian transplants fucking everything up again.

Regardless of the outcome in the next few days, I'm really disappointed in our country. How bad do things have to get?

When I was up in NY, my cousin was there. This is a guy I grew up with. We lived right down the street from each other when we were growing up in NJ. In many ways, he was, and still is, my best friend. I love the guy like he's my own brother. If he needed something from me, I'd give it to him without question. If he asked me to do something for him, I'd do it without hesitation, and he'd do the same for me. That's just how close we are. He's been living in Massachusetts for a while, working in marketing for a big national company. Our parents were Democrats when we were growing up, and subsequently, so were we. It took me moving to the South, taking civics classes down here, and talking to people about their political points of view to get me to open my eyes. My cousin and I talked politics for a few minutes when we were in NY. He claimed to "bleed blue" and while he admitted that he wasn't aware of the Democrats' positions on various issues, he didn't care. He "bled blue" and was voting Democrat all the way down the ballot come hell or high water, and that's just the way it was going to be. Every time I brought up individual issues, he would shut me down, cause he didn't want to talk about politics. I love my cousin, but he is a politically ignorant man. He makes good money, so I'm guessing the inflation isn't effecting him much, but his mother and his aunt (not my mother, his mother's sister) were there as well. They're both retired, and they were both bitching about inflation throughout the entire get together. I guess he's really dug in, 'cause he wasn't listening to his mother or his aunt either.

Anyway, my point is some people are just dug into their political affiliations just like people get dug into their favorite sports teams. For better or for worse, they're going to support who they're going to support, and there's nothing you can do or say about it. I'm guessing there's a lot of people like my cousin in this country, and they're all voters.

Today is the day that Georgia decides if the US Senate stay 50/50 or if the democrats get a true majority at 51/49. More importantly, it will also decide if the democrats get full control of all Senate committees or if those stay a 50/50 split.

I don't hold much hope of Georgia voting the right way. I fully expect Warnock to be re-elected today. There is even talk of Warnock (if he gets re-elected) being a possible presidential candidate for the democrats.
