BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (CBS12) — Investigators in central Florida found a woman asleep at the wheel of her car at a gas pump, with a firearm in her lap.
It all began when a clerk at a 7-Eleven in Brooksville noticed the vehicle had been stopped at the gas pump for more than 45 minutes last Wednesday.
The clerk called the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
The first deputy on scene found the driver, identified as 30-year-old Nicole Pellikan, fast asleep. In addition to the gun, the deputy saw two glass pipes nearby, which are often used to smoke narcotics.
Deputies removed Pellikan from the car and searched it. They found a small baggie with 20 grams of a crystal-like substance in her backpack. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The sheriff's office said Pellikan had a valid concealed weapons permit. Authorities did not say whether the gun was loaded.
Pellikan is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug equipment. Deputies booked her at the Hernando County Detention Center. She has since been released on a $16,000 bond.
