Lois Lane and Clark Kent just got their boss: Laurence Fishburne will play Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White in Man of Steel, EW has learned exclusively. White has traditionally been a hard-charging, old fashioned newspaperman, who relies on his ace reporters, Clark and Lois, to get the big scoop. Jackie Cooper played White in the Christopher Reeve-era Superman films, and Frank Langella took on the role in director Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns in 2006.

The casting resolves the question of what Laurence would be up to following his departure this May from CBS’ long-running CSI after just over two seasons. (Ted Danson will take Fishburne’s place on the show this fall.)

The Superman reboot, produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder, stars Henry Cavill as Clark (a.k.a. Superman), Amy Adams as Lois, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. David Goyer (Batman Begins) is penning the script. Man of Steel is due to begin filming this fall, and is slated for release on June 14, 2013.

Hopefully, if it turns out to be good, maybe they can arrange for the permanent destruction of all the previous piece of shit versions!

I wonder when Hollywood will go back to original ideas instead of redoing the same bullshit over and over

Is that not the same bullshit, over and over?

They seem to think because now there are better special effects, that it automatically make it a good film

I guess in theory, there are so many indy/low budget films out there that would be great big budget movies, but they are a new concept so they get no attention. You know how many original scripts have to be floating around hollywood even

Exactly....and that was my whole point with Avatar. Just because you throw money at it doesn't make it a good film. Take away all the money spent on special effects and that instantly becomes a horrible film. It's not an original story, it's been done many times before. All they did was use a half billion dollars worth of special effects.

It's a shame that so many original scripts get overlooked just so some studio can remake some film from 20 years ago :|

says you....

Avatar was a great sci-fi film with cutting edge effects.Did you picket and snub Star Wars in '77 because it cost over 10 million at the time to make?
Star wars burned everything from 40's serials to old war movies

I forgot, I'm not allowed to have a dissenting opinion about that movie

I liked it a lot when I saw it in 3D at the theater, I liked it a lot less when I watched it on cable

Oh gawd

You mean the other way around? If anyone disagrees with your take we get the rolling eyes and instant pissy attitude back?
I merely said - 'says you', gave my opinion on the movie and asked a valid question using a comparison to a film that had ripped
off multiple ideas from the past and admitted to it freely...and your response? Pure pissy...

There have been multitudes of shittier sci-fi films in the last 20 years. If you didn't care for Avatar, we get it.But if a person hates a movie before even seeing a minute of it (and you did for over 6 months), because it cost X amount of dollars or you didn't like the director...it's a little odd to be that critical before watching the film.

You watched, gave your review and that's cool. But in the same fashion we're also allowed to like the movie
