I went to see Prometheus yesterday

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a3/Prometheusposterfixed.jpg

my views and some spoilers in the spoiler tag

was a let down tbh. my mate is a BIG Alien geek and he was less than impressed with it.
i found it left more questions than answering any you may have had from the previous films.

its also left itself nicely open for sequels

certain things that need answering, what exactly did David say to the humanoid alien being that made him go batshit crazy??

it left both of us feeling that there was such a buildup to the ending of the film that it kinda left us wanting, almost as if they wrote 2/3rds of the film, went to lunch and forgot to bring th mojo back for the final 1/3rd of the film

Tank, if you want to discuss this, let me know. I've found a blog post from some random dude that pretty much nails what it's all really about. I'll give you a heads up: There's a shitload of religious and mythological symbolism in the film. There's barely a scene in the film that doesn't drip with it. And this dude points it out.

Here's the article (here there be tons of spoilers):

I was a fan of the original series so I expected something with a more serious tone...

Once I got that idea out of my head, I sat back and enjoyed this comedy. The two leads worked well together and lots of the small exchanges made me chuckle

Tower Heist

Considering the talent this could have been much better. It was like a Twitter version of each performance, truncated and not indicative of the star's potential.

Casey Affleck can be hilarious when he's given good lines. Not a horrible movie, the back story about the heist was interesting...

someones review

I’m just going to get right to the point- I think 21 JUMP STREET may end up being one of the funniest movies I see all year if not THE funniest. From beginning to end I cannot remember a movie that kept me so entertained and laughing almost every second in a long long time. Some of my favorite comedies over the years combine smart writing with great performances from actors with great comedic timing and ultimately a heart that shows maturity amidst all the raunchy jokes and 21 JUMP STREET met everything I look for in a comedy and then some.

The story SPOILER
Is about this girl and her mom "arranging" her marriage, she makes comments about not wanting to get married...now, or possibly ever. Then claims she will marry herself. The Amazing Spider-man.

It was ok, but not quite as amazing as people are touting it to be.

Ok, the fact that it was a little more serious was cool. Starting off with the Lizard instead of the Green Goblin/Norman Osborn was cool. Raimi should've used the Lizard in his movies.

Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) was way friggin' hotter than both Kirsten Dunce and Bryce Dallas Howard put together, and I liked the fact that they used Gwen Stacy rather than Mary Jane Watson... MJ doesn't come into the comics until later. But herein lies the problem: In the comics, Gwen Stacy dies. I don't think I'm gonna like Emma Stone dying in the sequels, if they're following along with the comics closely, which I think in some respects, they are.

I liked the fact that Peter Parker had to create the web shooters himself. He did in the comics.

Rhys Ifans made a kickass Lizard/Curt Connors. Again, the storyline should've been one of Raimi's films. I do like the "What happened to Peter's parents/what was Richard Parker really doing/what really is Peter?" underlying subplot. It was referenced several times, so it's gonna be revisited in the sequels. If I remember correctly, Richard Parker figured prominently in the Ultimate Spider-man comics.

I'm kinda undecided about Uncle Ben and Aunt May. I thought both versions were good, but you can't really go wrong with either Cliff Robertson or Martin Sheen. Sally Field wasn't as good as Rosemary Harris, but I didn't hate Sally. I just think Rosemary Harris played Aunt May better.

There was no Harry Osborn, which honestly I didn't miss until after I thought about it, but I liked Harry's revenge plot of Raimi's 2nd and 3rd movies. Maybe they'll throw him in the sequels, since it's been announced that it's gonna be a trilogy.

There was no J. Jonah Jameson! BLASPHEMY!!!

And lastly, I fuckin' hated Andrew Garfield. He's a fuckin' douchebag and he makes Peter Parker look like a douchebag. He came off as an arrogant cunt. I don't give a shit what you think about Tobey Maguire, but in my eyes Tobey was the better Peter Parker.

A little made for TV movie from 1981 called "The Wave". Don't ask me why.

It wasn't even close....I think maybe I smiled 2 or 3 times during the whole movie...never once made me laugh

I'm waiting around to see Moonrise Kingdom right now. It looks very promising!

Edit: It was the best movie I've seen this year.

The Raven

John Cusak did a good job as Poe, I thought it was good period piece and interesting mystery

Batman Begins was on the FX channel last night, so I watched that. I guess it's good to refresh my memory before I go into The Dark Knight Rises.
