VIENNA -- A famed Austrian museum has fired an employee for washing his hands and face with his urine.

Alfred Zoppelt says he was fired after 23 years of working as an attendant at the Belvedere, a castle in Vienna with a major art collection. He says his adherence to urine therapy was previously "never a problem."

Zoppelt, 57, said Thursday his notice from Belvedere says he was fired because "you regularly rub urine into your skin, particularly the face and hands. With this, you soil your place of work ... and threaten the health of your co-workers."

A woman answering the Belvedere press department phone confirmed that Zoppelt was fired but refused to give her name or further information.

Believers in urine therapy claim medical and cosmetic benefits but these have not been proven.

although I dont know that washing is really "urine therapy" so much as its...washing yourself with urine. the idea behind it is reabsorption of kidney enzymes - the 'truer' methods I've read about involve taking a few milliliters from mid stream with a dropper or something and dropping it either into the back of your throat or up the nose, the latter of which I'd imagine is a more ready absorption method. not from beginning or end of stream since those sections there are more likely to be present the less desirable "cleaning of the pipes" :lol:

Well, not to be the pro-pee guy again (we had all these discussions at AS a couple of years ago), but urine is very useful. It can be used to treat acne and other skin ailments, and taken internally as a boost to health. Ancient practice from India that is still widely followed today, by people all over the world.

To answer your question Halwynn, urine is only dangerous if you have some sort of active infection in your bladder or urinary tracts, or if you drink all of your urine. Urine therapy practitioners only drink small amounts, which actually restores nutrients to the body. However, if you drink all the urine you output and stop taking in other liquids, you will eventually reach a toxic state. Bear in mind, you can also overdose by drinking too much water, so all things in moderation.

Nonetheless most places of employment have a personal hygiene requirement as part of their employee manual. I'm pretty sure smelling like piss would constitute a lack of to most people if you were to ask them.

As far as therapy a lot of excess fat is excreted in urine. I imagine the benefit to rubbing it on your skin could be produced and improved upon by buying a bottle of lotion. And building up additional antibodies to urinary tract infections?..FFS, wear a condom if you're gonna fuck Hal. Stinky bastards
