SOMERSWORTH, N.H. (AP) — Police say a man caught allegedly shoplifting from a Somersworth supermarket left his 3-month-old daughter behind as he fled the scene.
Matthew Sordiff allegedly stole about $20 worth of items from the Market Basket on Monday afternoon. When he was confronted by store management outside, police say he pushed his daughter's stroller at the manager and ran away.
Store workers took the baby back inside and called police.
The 21-year-old Sordiff was arrested a few hours later.
The baby was unharmed and is now in the custody of relatives.
WHDH-TV reports that Sordiff is scheduled to be in court Tuesday on a larceny charge.
