A parking garage attendant died in a freak accident Thursday night when he accidentally drove into a car-lifting machine, cops said.
Denuld Prophete, 64, of Brooklyn, was retrieving a parked 2010 Ford Explorer around 11 p.m. at the Edison Park Fast garage on W. 44th St. near Eighth Ave. when he got out and accidentally left the SUV in reverse.
Prophete jumped back in and tried to slam the brakes, but mistakenly hit the accelerator instead.
The SUV plowed into a hydraulic machine, which severed part of Prophete's head from his neck, cops said. He died at the scene.
Foul play is not suspected.
