Teh One Who Knocks

If you click on your team name, there will be a notice that says the draft hasn't happened yet, but there will be a link to change the rankings of the players as to who you want the most

So (and forgive me for being a noob) - I can pre-rank people - and the draft will pick them for me...

How do I check the scoring (other pools I was in was just goals/assists) system - ie how many points for shoutouts etc

So (and forgive me for being a noob) - I can pre-rank people - and the draft will pick them for me...

Yes, the computer will draft whoever you have ranked the highest and is still available when your team's turn to draft comes around in each round.

How do I check the scoring (other pools I was in was just goals/assists) system - ie how many points for shoutouts etc

This is done head-to-head instead of rotisserie like you were in before (it sounds). You get one point for each category you win at the end of the week vs whoever you are playing. Each match-up is a full 7 days worth of stats for your players, so you will see things fluctuate back and forth during the course of the week.

Teh One Who Knocks

When is the draft?

As soon as we have everybody signed in, but no sooner than than next weekend (the 17th) to give people a chance to set their pre-rankings as they so choose. Unless everyone says that they are ready then I will set the league to 'draft ready'

That's not a bad starting lineup. Larry Fitzgerald is a damn good receiver. Maurice Jones-Drew's performance is really dependant on how the Jag's O-line plays.

Oh, and I was born into an instinctual hatred for the Dallas Cowboys, so no matter how he ranks or performs, Tony Romo still sucks.

For the clueless among us, it will auto-draft the next best player even without rankings - like the football league, correct?

Yes, if you make no changes to the pre-rankings, and you don't/can't show for the draft, then Yahoo will go by next best available player based on the rankings Yahoo already gave the players.

What are the rules regarding moving players and trades?

DemonGeminiX
09-24-2011, 07:52 PM
There's a waiver period right now, so if you want to do a drop/add, you'll have to wait a few days (it looks like the waiver period ends on the 27th) for it to take effect, given that no one with a higher waiver priority than you chooses the same player you did. If that does happen, then they'll get the player and it'll be like you haven't moved anyone at all. I think Lance set a 2 or 3 day waiver period on all dropped players. Don't quote me on that, but I think that's how it is.

I don't know much about trades. I've never done one before.

Dude, you have Miller in net, he's unreal. Last season wasn't his greatest but 2 years ago he won the Vezina. Bobby Ryan is young but will continue to break out as an NHL star this season - playing with Perry doesn't hurt that either. Patrick Kane is on the Hawks which means big points from his line and he's an all-star. No doubt he'll get you a minimum of 70 points and take you deep in the playoffs. And you have Backstrom who could easily get 90+ points.

From what I saw in the Vancouver-San Jose series in the playoffs last year, those two are solid. I'd bet on Couture having an 70+ point season this year (it's only his third NHL season), he's a Fantasy Draft sleeper. And Clowe could again break the 20 goal mark and have 100+ PIMS. Those two put up numbers about as good as the Heatley-Marleau-Thorton line with less time on the ice in the 2011 Playoffs.

And you got them both late in the draft too... wish I'd moved Couture up my list.

the grinders are the guys who usually play against the other teams best players. They are usually skilled - however the role that they play they don't usually get the scoring chances. Usually playing hard will lead to PIM's and less points.

IMO, many good two-way players spends plenty of time in the box, there are plenty of smart penalties, passionate ones and fights... it often means you're being physical and standing up for your team. Look at Corey Perry, 100+ PIM's, 50 goals and a Hart trophy all in one season. Great player. I hoped it would be a positive stat, I like it that way.

Plus/Minus evens it out in the other direction - responsible play. But I totally see the other side

No, JB. You have to win the stat category, just like in baseball. Go to your matchup page. If your opponent has more goals than you do, he wins that category and gets a point for it. If you guys tie in that category, nobody gets a point. If you get more goals, you get the point.

Works the same way for assists, +/-, penalty minutes (although I think that's a crock), power play goals, power play points, short handed goals, short handed assists, shots on goal, and face off wins.

And the goalie stats you're competing for in each matchup are as follows: wins, losses, goals against, goal against average, saves, save percentage, and shut outs.

Note that you win the stat and get a point for having the least in goals against and goal against average.

If you win more stats at the end of the "week", you'll win the matchup.

Son of a bitch my team is falling way behind DGX... I know the week is only half done but damn maybe I should look at picking up some older guys and dumping the slow-starting young ones  Such a gamble...

:hand:

You and your first round n00bs.

Oh I just assumed it worked like fantasy football you get points for what players do (touchdowns, yardage, etc.). I don't like this way.

My team sucks

Fantasy football does it that way because there is only one game per week, every other sport does it this way.
