Nude photos -- purportedly -- of actress Scarlett Johansson have been leaked onto the Internet after her phone was hacked, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Naked photos that The Avengers stars took of herself on her phone have appeared on popular websites, and according to reports, the FBI were contacted on Tuesday as the violation is considered to be a criminal act.

The 26-year-old movie star is far from the first celebrity to become the victim of phone hacking and Scarlett was purportedly part of an investigation earlier this year.

As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, the FBI launched an investigation in March to find the tech savvy group accused of stealing naked photos of Hollywood actresses including Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Vanessa Hudgens and Christina Aguilera.

At the time, cyber-crooks were reported to have nude photos and videos of at least 50 female celebrities — which also includes Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Ali Larter, Busy Philipps, Miley Cyrus, Emma Caulfield and Addison Timlin -- after they hacked into their cell phones and other devices to obtain the compromising images.

Scarlett Johansson nude photo leak investigated by FBI

Johansson is best known for films including Girl with a Pearl Earring and Lost in Translation
The FBI is investigating computer hacking attacks on celebrities after photos which appear to show Scarlett Johansson nude appeared on web sites.

The images, apparently taken by the actress, follow the leaking of naked photos of stars including Jessica Alba.

The FBI said it was investigating "the person or groups responsible for a series of computer intrusions involving high-profile figures".

A spokeswoman for Johansson was not available for comment.

Hacked photos of Justin Timberlake and his Friends With Benefits co-star Mila Kunis have also appeared online, according to reports.

Laura Eimiller, of the FBI's Los Angeles office, said dozens of stars had been the victims of hackers who had stolen personal information from email and other accounts.

She did not name any alleged victims "due to the pending nature of our investigation".

One leaked photo appears to show Johansson topless on a bed while another apparently shows her wearing a towel while revealing her bottom.

According to US celebrity website TMZ.com, Johansson has contacted the FBI over the leak.

TMZ also reports that her lawyer has sent letters to websites stating that Johansson owns the copyright to the pictures and threatening legal action if they are not removed.

Don't mess with the ScarJo.

That's the message Scarlett Johansson's pitbull of an attorney, Martin Singer, is sending to the various gossip sites that have deigned to publish nude self-portraits apparently hacked from the actress's cell phone and leaked online.

Here's what he had to say.

In a cease-and-desist letter sent to such sites as TheDirty and MediaTakeOut, Singer demands they remove the "stolen copyright protected private photographs" immediately or face a lawsuit.

One of the pictures shows a sultry Johansson lying on a bed topless; another finds her posing in front of a mirror exposing her bum.

"The highly personal and private photographs at issue capture our client self-posing in her own home in a state of undress and/or topless," Singer writes. "If you fail to comply, you will be acting at your own peril. Please govern yourselves accordingly."

That's a pretty stern warning—but in case the sites don't get the point, the Oscar-nominated star has the authorities on the case as well.

The FBI has confirmed to E! News it's investigating the possibility that a hacking ring has been breaking into the cell phones and personal email accounts of more than 50 female stars and stealing pictures and videos to leak on the Internet.

Johansson's camp contacted the feds after the unauthorized pics popped up yesterday. She joins a list of celebs including Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Christina Aguilera, Vanessa Hudgens and Demi Lovato who've allegedly been targeted.

Scarlett Johansson Naked Picture Poster Speaks Out: "I Really Felt Bad"

It really does pay to have a reputation as a nice girl in Hollywood.

Especially when you're Scarlett Johansson and you need a little help—like, say, getting some leaked nude photos of yourself removed from a website.

"I usually never remove images I get from hackers or third parties," TheDirty.com founder Nik Richie exclusively dished to E! News about his decision to comply with a cease-and-desist letter from the actress' attorney regarding leaked nude pictures of the star. "When you're a public figure, you're looking for attention as far as press and media. But in Scarlett's case, I felt for her."

The FBI is currently investigating an alleged hacking ring, a member of which could be responsible for breaking into Johansson's phone or computer and stealing the private pics.

But Richie insisted it wasn't the legal consequences that were tugging at his heartstrings.

"In this case, Scarlett Johansson's images were definitely an exception. I actually felt bad," he said.

In his opinion, "these images were a little more personal and private. Scarlett doesn't need to leak photos, she's pretty established. So this wasn't a press play. This was someone hacking into her phone, stealing her text messages and leaking them onto the Internet."

Richie said that he sensed that whoever leaked the pics was just "trying to make a quick buck."

"When I got the cease and desist from [Johansson's attorney] Marty Singer, I wasn't really afraid," he recalled. "I've gotten cease-and-desists from him before previously with other celebrities."

"It wasn't Marty that motivated me to take things off the TheDirty.com. It was the more I looked at the images, I really thought they were hacked. I really felt bad for Scarlett Johansson in the situation, so I thought, 'Let's take them down, let me be the bigger person for once.'"

And he hopes that other sites take the high road, as well.

"It's not that I feel bad for the person," Richie mused. "If there's a justified situation, where I know it could damage or ruin their career...I'm not really here to hurt somebody. I'm here to make people see the real world and know what's going on, no matter who you are.

"Scarlett didn't know these pictures would get stolen...For Scarlett, I thought it was in her best interest and our best interest to remove the images."

Hey, in this business, it never hurts to have a big star like Johansson not hate your guts. Not getting sued probably doesn't hurt, either.
