OAKDALE, Minn. -- A 6-year-old girl discovered the bodies of her parents and live-in babysitter who were killed in an apparent double murder-suicide, the StarTribune.com reports.
The Ramsey County medical examiner's office said each had a single gunshot wound to the head, according tot he website.
The dead were identified as 28-year-old Cintia Bustos, 32-year-old Jaime Velasquez and 43-year-old babysitter Angela Gonzalez.
Teenage neighbor Brady Hartman told the Star Tribune that she came home from school Thursday and found the three dead. He said the girl ran out of her house sobbing and screaming, "Mommy, daddy dead! Mommy, daddy dead!"
Hartman's mother consoled the girl and called 911.
"She is going to have a lot of trauma," Julie Hartman told the Tribune. "She went in there. She had blood on her hands."
"A family member did discover the bodies inside the home, and the scene appeared to reflect that there were injuries," Oakdale police Officer Michelle Stark said. "The family members were assisted by neighbors in calling the police."
She said there was no threat to public safety, and police were not actively seeking suspects.
"It was apparent to investigators upon arrival that the bodies were deceased," Stark said, adding that autopsy results would determine the cause and manner of death. She said authorities were interviewing witnesses Friday. When asked whether a weapon was found at the scene, she said that was part of the investigation.
"The biggest thing at this point is it is a human tragedy," she said. "We're not going to try to characterize anything we can't prove at this point in time."
It was not clear whether other children were home at the time of the killings. The Star Tribune reported that the girl and her brothers, ages 3 and 8, were staying with relatives.
Relatives said the couple owned All Seasons Siding and Roofing.
