TAMPA — A father and son carjacked a couple early Sunday morning after the son raped the woman, according to police.

Vincent Harrison, 46, and Rakeith Brooks, 30, approached the couple just after 4:30 a.m. in the 900 block of E Broad Street, according to Tampa police. Brooks pointed a silver pistol at the couple.

"Give us all your money, everything you have," Brooks said, according to an arrest report.

When the man replied that the couple did not have any money, Brooks hit him on the head with the gun, the report shows.

Brooks then grabbed the woman by the throat and pushed her to the ground, where he sexually battered her, police said.

Afterward, Brooks and Harrison told the man and woman to lay on the ground before fleeing in the couple's blue 2010 BMW, which contained cell phones, an iPad and other items.

The two suspects were identified later that morning when police responded to a 911 call from an apartment where a resident reported that a bullet had passed through a wall.

Officers responded to the apartment, at 110 E Broad St., and determined the bullet came from the adjoining apartment.

A woman in that adjoining apartment said Brooks, whom she described as her friend, had accidentally fired the gun.

She consented to a search of the residence during which police found some of the couple's stolen items, including cell phones and the keys to the BMW, police said.

In the apartment, officers also found a .380-caliber Davis Industries semiautomatic gun and a .45-caliber Cobray one-shot derringer, according to an arrest report. The BMW was later found in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Harrison and Brooks, identified by police as father and son, both denied having participated in the robbery or sexual battery.

But both victims identified the men as their attackers. A witness also told police that Brooks and Harrison had tried to sell some of the stolen property, which they had just gotten in a "lick," a police report stated.

Brooks was released from prison in June, having served a 10-year sentence for armed robbery, police said. Harrison has also served time in prison.

The father and son were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. Harrison faces charges of armed carjacking and dealing in stolen property. Brooks is charged with several offenses, including armed carjacking, armed kidnapping, and armed sexual battery.

Both were held without bail.
